RF/IR Remote w/ X10 capability.

Post by maxse »

Well im kinda new to this whole thing so bear with me guys. I jsut bought an 8811 and am thinking of returning it. The reason being: I want to build a HTPC and control it through an rf remote. I also want to control some lighting in Macros through X10, all the while having the remote being capable of JP1, so that I can customize it with macros etc... I couldnt really find anything that would satisfy all of these until I found these two remotes. Please comment on them and tell me all you think about them, it will be very helpful. Thank u very much in advance. Here are the 2 links:

Search on X10 in this forum and you will find a lot of answers to your questions and how others solved them.

You can't control X10 devices without some sort of converter, you either need to use an RF-to-X10 converter or an IR-to-X10 converter (ie, an IR543).

If you buy an X10 remote, it will have an RF transmitter built into it which will communicate with an RF-to-X10 converter (which is a small box with an antenna that plugs into an electrical outlet).

If you use a JP1 remote, you will need an IR543.
