I just purchased the jp1 cable and will hopefully be programming soon.

I have a philips TV and DVD/Sound System and as I understand some of the Philips commands use a "toggle bit" (i don't know what this means). But essentially what happens when you attempt to learn one of these commands for what i will call a "progressive function" (i.e. first button push does one thing and subsequent pushes do something else) it will only activate the particular command the first time and then succeeding button pushes don't do anything. Now some of these "progressive functions" are available thru the original device codes so the remote can in fact send them the only problem seems to be learning them.

My question is this, will the combination of this forum & jp1 be able to help me get these commands in my RS 2116? Also. is there a possibility that these commands are listed somewhere else like a site for Philips products?

A JP1 remote does the right thing with a toggle bit when the signal is defined by a device upgrade or a KeyMove and the wrong thing (as you described) when the signal is defined by learning.

Typical Philips devices have been quite well investigated both here and at RemoteCentral, so if you didn't have a learning remote or you didn't still have the original remote or you want commands missing from the original remote, it should be easy to find the command numbers in some file or message here or at RC.

However, with the original remote, it's probably easiest to find the command numbers using learning. Even though learning doesn't capture the toggle behavior, it does capture enough data to decode the command for use in an upgrade or KeyMove.

So, learn the signal, download to IR.EXE, click on the learned signals to see the decoded data, use that data to make upgrades or KeyMoves which will get the toggle behavior right.

This may give you a head start on the TV. This is a translation of the RC5 commands found on the Philips Pronto website for various display types. As you can see there is some corporate vacillation regarding discrete input commands as they vary back and forth by model. So you might try all the possibilities to see which works:

TV_0054

DEVICE(0000BF28) "Pixel Plus"

panel "Discrete Power"

EFC=082 RC5:0:061 Discrete OFF
EFC=018 RC5:0:063 Discrete ON
EFC=044 RC5:0:012 Power Toggle

panel "Discrete Inputs"

EFC=178 RC5:0:056 A/V Source Toggle

EFC=Not Available RC5:3:072 Antenna

AV1 (this is a macro with four commands)

1)EFC=Not Available RC5:3:072
2)EFC=037 RC5:3:004
3)EFC=223 RC5:0:081

EFC=002 RC5:0:126 Formatting Toggle
EFC=044 RC5:0:012 Power Toggle
EFC=Not Available RC5:3:123 VGA / DVI Toggle Input

The ones that say not available cannot be done by TV_0054 since it only can do a total of 192 commands and device 3 OBC's 64 through 127 aren't available. You could create a device upgrade for the missing commands. Read the protocols readme in KM Master for details.

Also, I don't want to create false expectations since many Philips TV's apparentely have few discrete commands. Here are a few workarounds:

You should try pressing a channel button from Off . Many Philips TV's will turn On if Off. Also the Antemnna command will probably set the input to the TV tuner, so a macro for Antenna followed by n Video Toggle's will set AV(n)

Same concept with the Play button on the DVD unit from Off. If that works Play|Stop=On and Play|Power toggle=Off.
