Atlas 1056B03 punchthrough

I'm getting back into JP1 after being gone for years, I have many questions, but find sticking to only one topic works best in forums. (Elsewhere, too).

What is the situation on the punchthrough settings in the Atlas (1056B03)? Am I right that together with lacking keymoves, this remote is almost useless without an extender?

In the past I've had Cinima 7's and a 15-1994, JP1 EEPROM. (Still have the 15-1994, backlight is gone, as is the computer I hooked the parallel JP1 cable to, and don't have a USB to JP1 eeprom cable yet.) Never felt the need to use an extender in any of those. And I was using the IR and KM tools back then.

I've now got a few 1056B03 JP1.x remotes I acquired some time back but never got to setting up. I've managed to get a dump from the remote into RMIR and play with it a bit.

Can someone explain the punchthrough situation on these? In RMIR General tab, there's a checkbox for "setup lock", and columns for "Volume Punchthrough" and "Channel Punchthrough". But I don't see a way to change the punchthrough, is this hard coded in the base remote? And what does the setup lock checkbox do? (First guess: if setup lock is checked, you can't change the setup code for this device directly on the remote?)

I don't have a cable box. So I put my generic 4 input HDMI switch on the cable button. I did manage to create an upgrade for my HDMI switch, starting from another found in the files section here.

But I also loaded an upgrade for my TCL TV onto the TV button, and to my surprise, the number buttons are passthrough'd to the cable device, changing the inputs on my HDMI switch. And I don't see how to change that in RMIR.

I don't fear using an extender, I probably want to do that anyway; I am just trying to start out simple and get my jp1 "sea legs" back before diving in the deep end.

For whatever it might be worth, at this point I have a 2023 TCL 85Q750G TV, Sony STR-DE975 HT receiver (pre-HDMI era), generic HDMI switch that supports ARC and splits audio to optical out to the HT recevier, Onn 4k Pro streaming box, TiVO HD (failing, some DVR goes here though), Sony BluRay, Xbox 360, Panasonic VCR, Nintendo Wii and various other video game consoles I occasionally take out and attach. ARC from TV doesn't seem to like to do better than 2 channel PCM audio in this setup. I expect to experiment to see if a USB IR dongle will bridge the gap to the Onn 4k box.

If you double click the individual device vol or channel punch thru a drop down box will appear for you to change it
There is a simple extender for this remote that adds keymove and device specific macro (DSM) to it

Double Click! I never would have thought of that. Thanks! I wonder how many other places that's used... Oh, man, it's all over, like changing the device type or setup code! As far as I can tell, searching for "double" in the Remote Master Manual on the wiki, this really isn't mentioned in the manual. And not in the "JP1 - Just How Easy Is It?" document, either.
