RMIR v3.2 Major new release!
Graham
When trying File>New>Remote Image these remotes will not show up when selected URC-4910 URC-4911 URC-4912 URC-4913 Both of the URC-1910
and URC-4914 Insignia Sony NS-RMTSNY17
Is it my RMIR install or can you replicate this behavior ?

This is a bug. I will look into it.HamburgerHelper1 wrote:Graham

This is correct. The XSight Lite/Plus remotes are remotes with segments, the XSight Touch/Color remotes have an entirely different internal structure for which it is not possible to create a new remote image.RMIR also can only create the xsight Lite 8610 the rest of the xsight a window opens with "'RMIR cannot create a new remote image for this remote"

Graham, for the small list of remotes for which RMIR cannot generate a new image, would it be a good idea to gather together a set of raw RMIR files from these remotes and include them with RMIR? Even better, if someone tries to create a new image, could RMIR just open one of those files?

The ordinary user of RMIR has no reason ever to use File > New > Remote Image. It is not a substitute for a Factory Reset. The images it creates are not suitable for uploading into a remote as in almost all cases they are missing essential data. I have often thought of removing this menu item completely but haven't done so as it has always been there and I thought removing it might cause more questions than leaving it. Also, it is a facility that I personally find useful for testing while being aware of its limitations. The Robman wrote:Graham, for the small list of remotes for which RMIR cannot generate a new image, would it be a good idea to gather together a set of raw RMIR files from these remotes and include them with RMIR? As remotes have gained more facilities over time, the created remote image has got further and further away from being functional. While this option is there, however, it should not crash. This is why I will fix the bug that Randy has found, but there is no way I would attempt to enhance it to handle new images for XSight Touch/Color remotes.

RMIR v3.2 Major new release!
Graham
Device tab sorting quirk
On previous versions i could click on the heading "setup code" "protocol" etc and my devices would be sorted accordingly.
On v3.1.14 this works fine but I think somewhere around v3.2.0 to the current version it starts to not work correctly.
With Some versions some of the headings work but sorting by "setup Code" does not
I do not know what to make of it as to why. can you duplicate this behavior or am I just Crazy

Randy, I have now posted development build RMIR v3.2.9 in the usual place. I have delayed posting this till now in case anything further cropped up to add to it, but nothing has. This should fix the issues you identified with v3.2.8. I would be grateful if you could check this and report back.

RMIR v3.2 Major new release!
Graham so far after testing RMIR v3.2.9 with 3 different remotes I have not run into any problems.
However when trying File > New > Remote Image. and selecting the new replacement remotes that you recently added such as the URC-4910 and the others
I notice something odd
When i try and add a Real-time Macro the bound key list of app 1 2 3 repeats itself several times.
Is this due to it actually needing a download from the remote?

I am not sure where that is. I went to the link that you included in the first post in this thread and downloaded that, but it appears to be 3.2.7. Anyway... I originally wrote the following for RMIR 3.1.5, but 3.2.7 shows the same error.mathdon wrote:I have now posted development build RMIR v3.2.9 in the usual place.
Using older RMDU files
I tried to load into RMIR 3.2.7 an RMDU file that was last changed in 2018. The file would not open. On looking at the contents of that file, and comparing it with an RMDU file that I created recently for a Sony TV, I noticed that there is an unusual line at the end of the button list, namely the "-1" line:
Code: Select all
...
Button.da=Function.45|null|null
Button.db=Function.46|null|null
Button.dc=Function.-1|null|nullWhen you have a list with a variable number of items, a valid technique is to use an item entry that has a special value that cannot occur naturally in the list, to act as a terminator for the list. Values such as 0 or -1 are often used for this purpose. I would surmise that the "-1" in the button list is intended to terminate the list, but is no longer needed in RMIR 3.2.7. So I deleted the "-1" line manually, and then the file loaded successfully into RMIR 3.2.7.
Considerations of upward compatibility would lead me to expect that RMIR 3.2.7 would be able to open these older RMDU files and perform any fix-ups necessary as the file was read into memory. Is this supposed to happen, or is there a limit on the age of RMDU files that can be read successfully?
Thank you.

It's here:CyberSimian wrote:I am not sure where that is. I went to the link that you included in the first post in this thread and downloaded that, but it appears to be 3.2.7.mathdon wrote:I have now posted development build RMIR v3.2.9 in the usual place.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/contro ... velopment/
For the future, in case you forget that link, here's how you could find it:
1. Go to the File Section, then go to Tools and Main.
2. There, click on "RM/RMIR (latest copy)" and click Download. This will take you to the main RM page at Sourceforge
3. There, click on the Files tab, then click on RMIRDevelopment
4. Click on "RMIR.v3.2.9-bin.zip" to download it

Thank you! I have bookmarked that address. The Robman wrote: It's here:

I have also copied your instructions into a separate text file, as there is a good chance that I will not be able to find the bookmark when I need it in the future.

No, I'm afraid it is one more to add to the long list of bugs you have foundHamburgerHelper1 wrote:However when trying File > New > Remote Image. and selecting the new replacement remotes that you recently added such as the URC-4910 and the others I notice something odd. Please post an RMDU file that has this problem for me to test with.CyberSimian wrote:I tried to load into RMIR 3.2.7 an RMDU file that was last changed in 2018. The file would not open.
