Streaming devices
1. I assume that there are still no "Universal BlueTooth remotes", although its been about 20 years since I read that.
2. I am looking looking for a universal remote control that can control one of the Roku that have an infrared eye. The Roku Express, Express 4KPlus or Ultra.
3. I need to control 5 devices.
Of course my preferred remote would be a UEI remote.
I have found 2.
Staples
One-for-all URC3680 $29.99
Includes a button labeled Streamers
urc3680
Amazon.com
One-for-all URC7880 $25.00
Includes a button labled Media
URC7880
I like the price better, but is this button a dreaded donut?
Does anyone have an opinion, or know of another remote that would fit the bill?

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Hey good to Hear from you
I do not use streamers but the URC 3660/3680 Family of remotes are pretty good
and you can put Macros,Timed Macros or Multi-Macros on practically every key
You can check the manual here http://www.hifi-remote.com/wiki/index.php/Manuals
It does have Roku devices in its code list
There is clones of it at a better price Both BestBuy and walmart had them
Here is an EBAY listing since the store no longer have them or someone on the forum may be willing to to sell you one

Thank you,
I am really trying to avoid "old stock" remotes. I am having a huge issue with button failure on my favorite remotes.
I think I'll go for the 3680.

Hi Vicky
Re: your button failure issue, I'm still rocking the 10820N's using your extender (thanks!!) and when my 4th and final new one started to fail, I took apart the 3 earlier ones and followed this fellow's procedure:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvVgDmW9zgQ&t=2s
While the jury is still out on longevity, so far, so good after a few months. (I did need to take one apart after a month and clean the excess graphite off of the circuit board using isopropyl alcohol, probably my fault for using too much graphite.)
To make them easier to take apart, I neutered the clips along the sides so that only the top clips and the screws hold them together now. If they need to be re-done occasionally, this should make it a painless process.
Cheers,
John

Than you John, I've blacked all the backs of my buttons with a soft pencil, and find it works for about 10 days. Its the TV device button on all of my Atlas remotes.
I was toying with the idea of getting that copper self sticking foil, or the defogging paint. I didn't know how long these repairs would last.
Funny its the same button , the TV Device button on every single Atlas. Maybe it is just because it is the least used button on my remote? I only use it to start the extenders and occassionally to fix a setting.

Hi Vicky,
I have used conductive paint, which is normally used for guitar shielding, to fix buttons with great success. I have heard that the defogging pain can flake off. I have ordered some graphite just so I can try it next time there's a need.
Here's the conductive paint that I bought:

I'll give both the paint and the stickies a try. I am going into full panic mode at the thought of using an unextended remote.
Add to my panic is that my spare JP1.2/3 cable just failed. My old JP1.1/2 will not work with the JP1.3 remotes.

It might be a good idea to grab a couple of spare FTDI tables off of eBay or Amazon, they're usually under $10 each.

Right chip, but the 6 individual pins are much easier to deal with:

Thanks Dave, I checked my traveling box, and found I don't have my 6 pin connectors with me, so I have no idea where they might be, since its been a decade since I made the only cable that I can use on Windows 11. So the 6 individual pins will be my best bet for right now.
I don't want to buy from China, since I feel like any day WW III might start.
There is someone in North Carolina selling the same kind of cables and offering a volume discount. Seeing as how I might be will be on my own if this site goes down I want to stock up.
I take it the RL at the end of FT232 doesn't mean anything.
6 Pin FTDI FT232RL USB to Serial Adapter Module USB TO TTL RS232 Arduino Cable
Are you guys gluing these together or just slipping shrinkwrap on them?

This is the one I ordered in December, it also has the RL and the cable works fine
This seller is also in North Carolina But your seller has more available if you want to order a lot
I use this one on my URC 2060 that has RTS going to pin 1 instead of pin 2 so i left the wires loose for this purpose

I use the actual 2*3 connectors, you can get 10 for $10 with USA shipping.
