Just to see if things will work
What kind of cable did you purchase/put together ?
Can you give a link to the cable you purchased ?
Can you upload a picture of it?
If you do not know how to upload a picture Read this

To read about RMIR and a download link try this

If you dont already have it you will also need to install JAVA
I am not sure on this link for java
and others may have a better choice to download or search Java yourself for your operating sustem

I am not sure on your wiring and we need others to comment on it
But I just searched the pages and found this page that will help
If this is how you wired it , I think it should work

I followed these instructions,
The Robman wrote:so here's what I did, I went back to Tommy's doc on the FTDI cable and made a note of which color he was attaching to each pin, then I went to the FTDI spec to see what each color wire is, then I went to the ebay listing to see what color coding they use and I got to the right combination, which turns out is the combination that Revwillie posted, so I don't know why it didn't work before, but it works now.

The color codes for the chip_partner cable are:
1 - (empty):VDD
2 - Yellow:RTS
3 - Black:GND
4 - Green:TXD
5 - (empty)
6 - White:RXD
Blue:CTS (not connected)
Red:5V (not connected)

Ok, here's some advice for anyone that tries to add a regular IDC connector onto the end of one of these cables, when you wire it, use all 6 wires (ie, with red on pin 1 and blue on pin 5) then once you've got it clamped down, then snip the red and blue wires. If you snip them beforehand, it's virtually impossible to leave just the right spacing for the 2 missing wires (at least, it was for me).

One of my pins broke on my 3660, so I can no longer program it.* :(
I am ordering a 3680 as a replacement. Is there anything I need to know about the 3680?

*Fortunately, it is optimized for my current devices!

I can think of something
1st do a download of the new 3680 and save it as a .ir file for a backup of its current state
This 1st download is also to make sure UEI didn't throw us a curve ball
and have another version of it as i found there is 2 versions of the 3660
Now if you want to copy a 3660 you can do a download of it or load a RMIR file of it
and re-save it as a ,ir file
Now open the saved .ir file and if they are the same signature you will get a choice of picking the URC-3660 or the URC 3680
as long as your 1st download shows your new remote as signature 369006
the 3660 and 3680 are interchangable
If you feel unsure of it then disregard and program it your normal way

Larry, if you have Best Buy near by, they have Insignia models that nearly clones to your 3660. They 8, 5, and 3 device models. You check on line for open box deals.

You will see the signature in the Raw Data Tab of RMIR

The .IR method changed all the key function names to their 3680 defaults.

what do you have the function names set at in the "options" menu ?
Besides the name should not matter they will perform the function they are set at

Repeat the process but save it as an RMIR file, then edit the RMIR file using Notepad and change the Remote.name from URC-3660 to URC-3880

[General]
Remote.name=URC-3660
