URC 62440 is it JP1.x ?

Post by jeajea »

Anyone know if the URC 62440 is JP1.x compatible?
I don't want 10 of them if it isn't.

Are you planning on reselling them? If so, you could buy an equivalent number of FTDI cables and 2*3 connectors, then re-sell them as a package of a remote and a JP1-ready cable.

No, I have no plans to resell them.
I was looking for two or three JP.x compatible remotes with a good layout and number of keys.
This remote is similar to the Insignia and AOC 67100.
I bought 10 because they almost the same price as three.
However, if someone bought 100 and could get 100 FTDI cables for
a good price selling a package is a good idea.

A cable like this is $3.62 for one, but I bet the guy would make a deal for a bulk sale:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/126610325503

Here's a lot of 40 2*3 connectors for $4.94 (so about $0.13 each)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/263051820184

So, let's say you just did 10 remote packages, you'd be in $25 for the remotes, $36.20 (or less) for the cables, and $5 for the connectors. So that's about $66 total, which is about $7 per remote package, then the question is, what could you sell them for (plus shipping)? My main concern these days is, I think the remote-control market is really dry because the environment has changed. These days, people are cable-cutting, so no more STB boxes, plus they're streaming, so no more DVD or CD players, they're basically either doing stuff on their computers or using their smart TVs, so they really don't need a universal remote anymore.

You would also need to pay eBay (or someone else) to handle the sale and pay
the sales tax to the correct state.

If you do the shipping, you also need padded envelopes or boxes.

If you sell the package for $14.99 plus $5 shipping for the first item then
ten packages aren?t worth the trouble.

If you already are selling on eBay then 100 packages might make sense.
