Cisco Cable Box remote control RC1534820/04 - JP1?

Post by jackching »

Is there any way to tell if this is JP compatible? It seems to have all of the 9xx commands.

Manual is here:

I know it doesn't have the prongs to connect but could maybe solder wires on.

Unless you know of a similar one with easy hookup. That would be great. I can't seem to find any of the Bell Fibe ones like the one I had.

This pic confirm no pins. While adding wiring and pins is certainly possible (sometimes), and many of us have done it before, it's not a small task and is usually not cost effective as far as your time goes.

I don't really keep up on which remotes are available at retail, but there are some listed here:

And, of course, who knows what's on eBay. I just took a look and saw that there are several Radio Shack 15-2116 remotes, which are really nice remotes, but they use the old standard of JP1 connector, so you'd need an adapter to program them with your modern JP1 cable.

Here's a URC-7880 for $22 USD

Here's an older URC-8820N For $12 USD

I know you're in Canada, so you'll have to see if those can be shipped to you, and at what extra cost. Or maybe you can find something similar that's already in Canada.

Here's a URC-8820N listed on the Canadian eBay for $21 CDN shipped (still coming for the US though):

The 8820N would be an excellent choice as it's an 8-device remote with learning and it works with modern JP1 cables.
