One For All URC 7945 Smart Streamer Remote

Looks like from the reviews that the software isn't ready for prime time (the app is My Nevo. They're smearing Nevo's good name!) but if there's a JP1 connector in there like OFA always has this seems like a good simplified remote for HTs with only a few sources, but enough extra buttons over the 7935 streamer remote to have some extra functions handy.
I may make my way over to Best Buy this week to check one out and report back unless someone beats me to the punch.

When someone gets one of these, post back and I'll help you build an RDF. Except for you Ed, you're disqualified until you get a JP1 cable !!!

Is that really an old fashioned EEPROM chip at U3?

If someone can be bothered to try this, it might be possible to hook up a 6-pin that can talk to that EEPROM chip (assuming that's what it is). Questionable ROI, this would have to be a "just because you can" sort of thing.

Thanks for the offer Ed, but I think my remote modding days are behind me.

I picked up a urc 7945 hoping to find a jp1 interface and make it more useful. I had some pogo pins from another project. So I plugged them in my jp1 adapter connector (only the four connected sockets) and tried the test point pads in the battery holder. Of course, I had to arrange to power the remote from an external battery box. I believe that I tried every combination of pads. In every case when I tried to do a raw download, it came back with no remotes found. At this point, I'm out of ideas.
So, then I tried the bluetooth connection. I have a Bluegiga Bluetooth Low Energy adapter for my urc 7880. It seems to find it with a bluetooth search. When I try to connect to it, it says "Please note that this remote needs an extender in order to support uploading via its Bluetooth interface." If I try to connect again, it says "Attempt to connect to remote OFA Stream 1c:60:c8 failed". I guess that's not going to work. I should note that I did let it connect to the configuration app and update it's firmware before trying all of this.
I did discover that holding the back and exit buttons down gives two blinks on the led. Then entering the equivalent of 981 gives the expected four blinks. So maybe that works.
So, that's what I've tried. Hopefully this will save someone else from trying the same things unless they have more ideas.
