Unlocking a Sony BD player

Post by steviehs »

I am still soo happy with my xsight-touch, which works great thanks to RMIR...

Now I have found some instructions to unlock my Sony BD player:

https://www.avforums.com/threads/sony-b ... 0.1658940/

e.g.

1. Press DVD
2. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
3. Press 20533

4. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
5. Press 994
6. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
7. Press 001891 (this sets key and the DVD button flashes twice)

But: this mentions to reprogram some URC 3940 with a Magic Button? Is there a way to set this codes on my Xsight-Touch? I think so, but how?

Load this upgrade and follow the instructions in the notes:

Keep in mind this hack only works for non-US players.

Hmm... RMIR tells me, when I want to load this rmdu:

"To load this upgrade you must first convert the protocol of that upgrade to a Manual Protocol and then change its PID."

I guess I have to open it via RMDU, but from then I really don't find where just to change the PID?

I don't get that error.

In RMIR, I open my Xsight rmir file, go to the devices tab and click new, enter a name, then Open the sony rmdu file in the next window, assign the region related functions to buttons on the buttons or layout tab, then click OK.

If you still have trouble, post your rmir file in the diagnosis area, and I can add it for you.

Ok, understood: the reason is, that I am already using twi devices with 00 27 id. The * behind it tells me, that I changed something? Which I really do not remember... I will post the RMIR file. Great, that you will have a look at it!

I replaced your file with my changes. I just added the region hack commands to your existing blu-ray device on the last screen. Download and give it a try.

Wow, that was fast. Great & thanks a lot.
The menu items are there and no smoke out of the DVD player...
Now I need to get hands on a DVD with different region code first.

Thanks a lot for your support!!!

That's too bad.

If you find any other codes you want to try, all you have to do is add the new functions to the functions tab when you edit the device and put the EFCs in the EFC5 column, then assign those new functions to buttons on the buttons or layout tab.

Personally, I bought a used Sony player that included a region free hardware mod for not much money.

Hope you find what you're looking for.
