Hmmm, then I wonder if there's something under the button that is disabling it? Now you have to open the remote. Btw, what is this remote? Where did you get it? _________________ Rob

If you haven't downloaded my upload here it is again. With a pic of the remote
I got this remote from my recycling company.
From looking at various Niles audio manuals it appears that Niles uses the stereo to control all aspects of a system and their manuals give no info on programing the remote technically it appears the remote is not supposed to be user programmable

I had seen it, but I hadn't scolled down to see the Niles logo, I just saw "R-4 Remote Control" which isn't much to search on.

I was hoping they'd just put some tape under it, which you could remove. How did you "fix" the button to make it work? _________________ Rob

I really didn't fix it yet
Since i can set board into bottom half of case
I inserted batteries and use the head of a nail to activate setup and 981
Im thinking of cutting and old button apart from the numerous remote i have access to and with a toothpick just a dab of superglue and put the conductive pad on it.
Fingers crossed |

You could try super-gluing a small piece of aluminum foil on the base of the button. _________________ Rob

If you have the tape already, give it a try. I suspect it will fall off but there's no harm in trying. _________________ Rob

Actually I may just put back together It does not support Macro and has
other buttons recessed as well as the device button being recessed.
Look at bottom of pic above the 1 2 3 4 buttons there is no cut out on the plastic for these buttons and the 4 device buttons recessed too
Maybe just modify and existing RDF a little and be done with it

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with the lower 4 recessed buttons, just treat them as phantoms, but if I were you, I would try supergluing some foil to the SETUP button at least, to see if that works. _________________ Rob

Pic not the best but you'll get the idea
I super-glued Aluminum tape to the button and so far its working
I did not try aluminum foil because i knew the tape is a little thicker and sturdier to handle.
I held buttons in my hand, pushed the setup button outward and with other hand i dipped the tape into already dispensed super glue and held for awhile.
After letting go I notice a corner not on so i dipped toothpick in the glue and applied more[
