extremely newbie question

Post by Ioan »

I'm trying to follow the "JP1 - How easy is it?" guide to load a replay tv file into my One for All 8811 remote. I'm using IR.EXE version 4.02 and the keymap-master spreadsheet.

I added my new device and protocol, now the guide says "Don't forget to assign the new setup code that you created to an actual device button!"

How do I do this last step? I'd like to assign it to my "aux" device if that's possible.

I must be missing something obvious, my only excuse is it's late. :)

Thanks for the help :)

PS How do I get the 8811 to learn from another remote? The instructions don't say how.

PPS I guess that's 2 questions ;)

If the device upgrade includes KeyMoves, IR.EXE asks you which device button to assign it to at the time you paste the upgrade in.

If it doesn't include KeyMoves, you should then switch to the "General" tab. The left portion of that dialog handles assigning setup codes to device keys. In the row for the desired device key, use the pull down to select the device type of the upgrade, and type the number of the setup code into the code column.

Rob wrote improved manuals for several models. See the top section of this page:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/manuals/

The 8811 does not have an improved manual, but most of its behavior (including learning) is the same as the 15-1994, which has a very good improved manual. Read the "Learning Functions" section of that 15-1994 manual for a very clear description of learning.
