356904 URC-4031 RDF Request

If you have a new remote that isn't recognized by RMIR, post the details here so we can help create a new RDF for it. Or, if there is an issue with an existing RDF or map, this is the place.

356904 URC-4031 RDF Request

Post by Fuzzlet »

My brother in law works for a Fiber/TV company that gives these out. JP1 6-pin header ready.

I have uploaded everything (I think) as requested by sticky thread. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide.

Thank you!

Hi Fuzzlet, I will be helping you with this. First off, thanks for providing so much information right off the bat, that is truly a first. As all four device buttons have the same setup code programmed to them, could I ask you to re-program them all with different setup codes so I can tell them apart in the download. Also, I have sent you a PM for some additional data that I need.

You're probably way ahead of me already, Rob, but the Insignia NS-RMT415 v2 would probably be a good starting point, just going by the looks of this one.

No problem! I understand technical requirements. :)

And how embarrassing. They were the same code because that was the 993 signature blink back. I have done a reset and programmed new codes and saved the raw along with correct 990 blink back. Available here:

Please let me know if you need the dev buttons in a macro!

I'm going to have to ask for Graham's help here as these .IR files have a signature line before the start of the segments that I haven't seen before.

Here's my breakdown of the 3569_macros.ir included in the zip. I don't know how to handle the first 20 bytes of data at EF80:

Code: Select all

Interesting. The first couple bytes change with a program change (new device code). My non-remote knowledge makes it seem like some sort of checksum.

Yes, the first 2 bytes are always a checksum, but normally for segment remotes, the 3rd byte is the start of the segments, whereas we have some additional data here with the signature in the middle.

I have done most of the RDF, but it doesn't work yet as I still need to find a way to handle that extra line of data. I'm just posting a link here so I can find it again.

Thanks Graham, that did the trick.

Cory, the RDF is ready for you to test.

I might be doing something wrong, as I am still relatively new with RMIR, but having issues. The upgrade doesn't seem to be uploading to the remote.

My sequence of steps:
Remote 981 MFR Reset (disconnected from JP1 cable)
Using newly launched RMIR (2.11b1) -> Download from remote
Devices > New > Open -> Vizio_D24f-f1.rmdu (Setup code is 1758, same as using 991 Function to learn TV on remote, which worked)
Most buttons assigned, left as is.
Saved RMIR file
Upload to remote, no errors/prompts - STB button on remote blinks 4 times
Remote > Raw download - No change

I have uploaded RMIR file and raw outputs here. https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=26012

Please let me know if there is anything else I can provide or if I did something wrong.

Thanks,
Cory

It sounds like you are trying to add an upgrade which, while it's a valid test, it should be test 5 or 5, not test 1.

The first thing you should do, once you've saved the RDF in the RDF folder, and saved the image and map in the Images folder, is to see if you can download from your remote, and then see if you can upload to your remote. Open the macros.ir file that you created and see if all the macros look right. Try creating a keymove on the remote and see if it shows up properly. Even if the remote doesn't let you create a keymove, try creating on using RMIR and see if it works in the remote.

Looking at your test results, it looks like the remote is rejecting the upload, and I suspect that is due to an incorrect checksum. I'll look into this.

Thanks, indeed I did try jumping straight to programming a device. All macro and buttons look good. I believe the key move worked on remote, but I don't see the key move tab in RMIR that I've seen with my other remote, so not sure if it's showing up. Is there something I need to do to enable that?

Sorry, I took out the option when I was trying to resolve a problem and forgot to put it back. Open the RDF using Notepad, look for the SegmentTypes= entry and add $07.

SegmentTypes=$00 $01 $07 $10 $13 $14 $17 $18 $1A

Regarding the checksum, things have changed since I fully understood how they worked, so I'm not sure how to determine them anymore. There are 4 options, could you try each of them and see if one of them allows the remote to accept an upload.

[Checksums]
*$0000:$0002..$0BFF/2
*$0000:$0002..$0BFF
^$0000:$0002..$0BFF/2
^$0000:$0002..$0BFF
