HK Combo Protocol with 8910

Post by pbrown »

I have an 8910 remote and a Harmon-Kardon AVR-7200 receiver. I can't seem to be able to get the 8910 to accept the HK Combo protocol. Here is the process I've gone through.

I started with the built in code for reciever 110 that came with my 9810. Rob was kind enough to make it into a KM file. It uses the NEC1 128.112 protocol. You can see that file here:

ROB'S HK RECIEVER 110 CODE

When I use this code, the LCD screen on the remote shows the number 0110 on it, to indicate that I am using Code 0110. This code does most of what I want to do, but I can't use the OSD menu using it. I learned those buttons into my remote and found that those buttons use the protocol NEC1 130.114. I Built a new code in KM using that protocol and uploaded it into my remote using IR.exe calling it Amp1110. I then used Key map to build the keys for the OSD and associated cursor buttons. I can now use the OSD and cursor buttons along with all of the other functions, but it's burning a lot of Key Mover memory.

I then stumbled upon the HK Combo protocol, which is supposed to allow me to use both of the previous protocols all in one. This should be the perfect solution, and I made up a new device code using KM, and you can see that file here:

I have called this code Tuner 1110. I can import it as a new device in IR, and assign it to the receiver button in IR. BUT, when I upload it to the remote, nothing works, and it reports that I am using device 1023 now on the LCD display. I assume 1023 is a default code of some sort? I had also tried loading several of the other HK devices that are listed in the audio folder, but to the same result each time. Could an expert take a look at my device code and tell me if there's anything wrong with it? Also, could you try to upload it into an 8910 and see what code is reported as being used? Any other ideas for getting it to work? Thanks!

Ok, problem solved. I found out about the protocols tab. Needed to paste that in too. Sorry to waste everyone's time!
