Most times the Orange coding works for indicating new, unviewed messages. However, sometimes it doesn't work right, and at some point later I'll see I missed a message. It's as tho dojng something hits the "mark all messages read" button. I haven't quite figured out all the occasions where this happens, but the last time it did, I accessed the site, saw several "orange" forum indicators, sent Nils a "PM" first, and when i went back to the general site after posting, all the "orange" indicators were gone. The only error I made was hitting "enter" after typing the subject line to Nils. Was that error the cause?

I've noticed this, too. There's apparently more than a few quirks in the php software. I've found that going back to the main page and selecting the View posts since last visit link works most of the time to bring up the list of new posts.

I've had some problems where it seems that I'm only partially "logged in". Deleting the cookie seems to clear it up.

I always use the "view posts since last visit" link myself and I haven't had any problems with it.

As do I, Rob, but sometimes it does not show that I'm logged in at the top of the page, even though it is displaying the correct list of new posts.

There's some line somewhere that says the "logged in" stuff refers to activity in the last 5 minutes, so maybe it's not instantaneous.
