Reverse engineering a Slingbox 1554 JU.bin/PL.bin for RM use

Post by jenom »

I have found a Slingbox 1554 JU.bin and PL.bin files for my xxxx device, and according to ReadMe.txt all it's remote buttons were scanned ! :-)

(only partially scanned filers available in Files section for my xxxx device)

Although I do not have Slingbox remote, I would like to use these files to somehow get the button codes out and then use RemoteMaster to convert them to my universal remote (Atlas 1056 B03)

Is it possible ?
If yes, please provide instructions.

Thanks!

What is the device, and do you have a link to the BIN file? Most bin files are created by Alan Richey and he's pretty good about also loading the RMDU files, so it might already be there.

But, to answer your question, yes, you can reverse engineer it.
  1. Start up RM (Remote Master)
  2. Advanced > Import binary upgrade
  3. Select the bin file
Now you can change the selected remote from the Slingbox to something else and you're good to go. Be aware, of course, that all the function names will just be the generic Slingbox button names, so you should re-name them as needed to match the original button names where possible.
