I have tried to learn keys from the Korean brand
Kaon 510HCO SAT receiver (http://www.kaonmedia.com/)

The RCU810 will display 'SUCCESS' when I try to learn keys, but there is
no activity in the SAT tuner when I later test it. The RCU810 have succesfully
learned keys from my Sony TV, so I think its working.

I do not know much about IR, but could it be that the RCU810 is not
compatible with the Kaon remote ?

Since you have learned other commands perhaps you have run out of learning memory. Save your existing configuration with IR, do a manufacturer's reset (I have no idea how to do this in an RCU810 maybe one of our RCU810 experts will answer) and try learning again.

Make sure that you have new batteries in both remotes and that you have them facing each other on a table.

If this doesn't work, then I would suggest you contact the manufacturer and ask for technical deatails about the IR commands (or a Pronto ccf file) so you can program a Pronto. If we can get commands in the Pronto format we can decode them.

The RCU810 is actually brand new, and I have also tried to reset memory a couple of times. The batteries in the RCU810 is brand new, and I have also tried to change batteries in the Kaon remote now.

I will try to send an request for IR information to Kaon, but they have not been responsive before so I doubt I will get something from them.

My basic question was if there is IR remotes which is not possible to learn at all by a learning remote?

Yes, there are several possibilities where it can't learn:

1. The OEM remote uses RF and not IR
2. The IR carrier frequency is too high to be learned
3. An IR protocol that confuses the remote's learning process

However, if you know that it uses IR it is more likely that there is a user problem than 2 or 3.

One other thing to try is to start the learning process, get the rapidly flashing LED and just do a hard tap on the OEM remote (don't hold it down).
