I am an occasional user and haven't visited these forums for years.
Thank You to the talented people at JP1 that makes this remote customisation possible.

I only use the basic functions of the JP1 software to add devices upgrades to my old remotes.

Although I know of extenders I dont use them.
I prefer a remote with lots of buttons so that I can have a seperate function for each button.

My remotes URC7544 x3, URC9040, Nevo C2 x2, RCA RCRP05B x2, Niles R6L x2

Interaces I have jp1 simple parallel that I haven't used in years so don't know where it is!
I also have a generic ftdi usb jp1.x that communicates with the jp1.x remotes.

URC7544
In general I prefer the remote layout to have a range of different sized buttons so that i can use them by feel rather than having to read the small letters/icons.
I still like the old trusty urc7544 becuase it has a little weight, is robust and has tactile buttons. The main issue is that is doesn't have many buttons or many devices.

URC9040
Just feels odd in use. The surface is too slipery. Feels inert. Button arrangement is just crazy.

Nevo C2
On paper a great remote with usb. In use it seems bulky and flawed. Button arrangement is odd and some of the tiny buttons are just a little too small (eg guide, menu, info, exit). Slippery remote that doesn't like to be dropped too often and the battery cover latch breaks when sneezed at.

RCA RCRP05B
Look and feel are not too bad. Has lots of buttons. I just haven't got use the the button layout (eg the colour buttons ordered wrong for me - I prefer the euro arrangement of red, green, yellow, blue instead of the US arrangement of yellow, blue, red, green. It may seem minor, but I've got used to the euro way)

Niles R6L
Recent purchase to get around the issue of the red, green, yellow, blue buttons.
Has lots of buttons and feels similar to the RCA RCRP05B

So onto my main question - please may I have an rdf or help contruct one for the Niles R6L.
The issue I have with the supplied RMIR rdf files is that the new remote gets recognised as
30273027 (Vizio VUR8 6100 JP1.3).RDF

I suspect this is becuase the Niles R6L shares the same signature as an established remote in the JP1 world, even though they look physically different. So if someone has a suitable rdf, can they share it?
I think I'll to overwrite the Vizio rdf as I dont have that remote anyway.

I notice the Niles R8L ( 8 devices instaed of 6 in R6L) was mentioned in
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=101104&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=15

If needed I can try to open it , but I haven't attemped that yet for fear of breaking it.
I am not in a rush for the rdf - this is a back burner task, for the future when the RCA RCRP05 wears out!

Fixed data mismatch
The fixed data in the RDF does not match the values in the remote.
Do you want to replace the values in the remote with those from the RDF?

I select no

I've cloned the Vizio RDF to create this:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=25646

All I did was change the fixed data, which is enough to make RMIR pick this RDF over the Vizio one when you download or open one of your files. You will need to customize it to make the button names match what's on the Niles remote.

If you find anything not working properly, report it here and we'll look into it.

Thats great Rob, thank you.
I'll try the new rdf tomorrow and report back.

It looks good - I get the option to select which 3027 signature rdf to use.
I'll need to spend a little time customising it and check the button assignments works.

Thanks again

Finally got my hands on a Niles R8L and finished the RDF Rob started. Seems to work fine but never had an expert pull the real details from a raw download.

I have included your updated files in RMIR v3.0.11 which I have now posted in the RMIR Development folder on SourceForge.
