i set up my xsight color up with 2 easy activities for my cousin.
1 activity is watch plex
1 activity is watch dish

problem is she is very tech illiterate and would love to take out the requirement of having to hit the "back" button to go back in the menu and select the different activity.

example i would love to have it set up so when she has it set to "watch plex" there is all the time an option on the screen for "watch dish" so she could easily switch between the 2 sources.

i tried adding the macro to a soft button but when i use it, it successfully switches inputs and all but the hard keys are still affecting the original activity source.

No way to do that. But you can put Home on a soft button or show her how to press the Activities button instead of back.

Similar question here: Is there some sort of best practice for switching devices? For instance, I know I can power-on from a soft key but is there any way to then pass control to the powered-on device? If there is, I am failing at it. It seems there is no way to change devices in a macro.

That's what Activities do. Make one for each device.

In RMIR, go to the Macro tab, new, type HOME for the name, pick desired device and soft button under Key (i.e., Soft1), then pick "Button:Home" under Function and click the Add button.

Repeat for the other devices where you want a Home button.
