I was trying to use the "Fav/Scan Programmer" from special-protocols-v1.16.xls with a 15-2117 remote.

In particular I wanted to map Fav/Scan to Replay Guide.

In the excel spreadsheet, I selected:
"Fav/Scan Programmer"
"15-2116"

I'm using VCR/0616 as the device code for my Replay. From Devices4.xls I retrieved the additional data:
ProtID=C9h
#Fixed=5
BtnCd=54h - according to http://www.hifi-remote.com/cgi-bin2/ueic.cgi?PVR_0616 Replay Guide is 84 (54h)

I pasted the results into IR and uploaded to my 15-2117

Upgrade protocol 0 = 00 C9 (S3C8)
00 00 51 76 7E 04 6B 0B 56 7E E3 56 00 DF B0 0D
E6 08 54 C6 C4 00 C9 F6 40 11 50 C0 50 C1 8D 20
31
End

For some reason I can't get this to work. When I press Fav/Scan it still wants to send something every second, but I have no idea what it is sending as it doesn't affect my devices.

Am I missing something obvious? This is my first time playing with this so I probably messed something up. Any help would be appreciated.

From the Known Limitations:

* The key works with CBL, TV, or VCR devices ONLY.
* The protocol works ONLY if the original protocol is in ROM and the Setup Code is in EEPROM.

This means you need to be using a Device Upgrade for VCR/0616. The Fav/Scan protocol won't work with a built-in Setup Code. Also, that Setup Code has to be assigned to the CBL, TV, or VCR device buttons.

Thanks much. That was it. In case anyone was curious, I took Rob's
Panasonic-based Replay device (ReplayTV-pan.txt):
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files/3.%20Device%20Codes/PVR/ReplayTV.zip
as a template for a new device.

Using keymap-master-v7.54.xls and ReplayTV-pan.txt I created a new
device (CBL/1616):

The reason I chose CBL instead of VCR was because the cable device
encompassed more keys on the remote so the resulting device upgrade
used fewer "key moves" (for my setup) and thus less memory.

I based it off the Panasonic protocol because of the limitation above that
the protocol had to be in ROM. I think the other Advanced Replay device
created a custom protocol so I felt it wouldn't meet the above restriction.

I created a new device because of the limitation that the Setup Code had
to be in EEPROM.

I needed to add "Commercial Adv" EFC 057 to the list of functions in
keymap-master since it wasn't already there.

I took the results from keymap-master and pasted into IR.

Next I created the Fav/Scan Programmer protocol using
special-protocols-v1.16.xls

In the excel spreadsheet, I selected:
"Fav/Scan Programmer"
"15-2116"

ProtID=C9h
#Fixed=5
BtnCd=CBh (I used the Hex from Functions page of keymap-master)

Everything seems to be working great now. Thanks for the pointers.
If I've done something that doesn't make sense despite it working,
please let me know too, so I can learn from my mistakes.
