How would a virgin 8910 file help?

To create a virgin 8910 file, do this in IR.exe:
1. Advanced > Initialize to $FF
2. Upload to remote
3. Do a master reset on remote
4. Download from remote
5. Save the IR file

I suspect that you tried to do an OPS RESET rather than the master reset that I linked to earlier.

I've finally got the remote reset and the TV input learned so now it's time to try and use it.

That is exactly the code that I programmed on the INPUT button in the file that I created for you.

BigD,

I don't remember much about how the 8910 extender works, but do you have to activate it? Rob's file is for the extender like your original one. If it isn't activated, buttons won't work right.

Yes you do have to activate it.I'm using macro keys to access the cable box on the TV button and TV volume on the DVD and cable box.
I've given up trying to to make TV input button work. Thanks for all your time and effort .BigD
