FYI, x10 is selling this system for "free" + $6 shipping. It is an RF wireless remote and a USB RF receiver. I'm no big fan of x10 stuff but this may fill a need for someone. AFAIK this has nothing to do with JP1 or UEIC.

From GLT over at HomeSeer:

"Once I realized that the X10 Lola remote was just a re-packaged ATI
Remote Wonder, there were all sorts of plugins available. I wound up
using this one for IRAssistant.

And there's a whole list of them (for Girder and everything else) at
this site:

I purchased an X10 "MP3" remote a while back. Not sure if it does RF, only IR. It came with a little serial port receiver and some software called "BOOM" that let you control the PC with the remote. I found the BOOM software to be extremely lacking, and I ventured into more advanced software called UICE. The remote was actually universal so I was able to control some other devices with it as well. However, being somewhat old and non-learning, when I got some new equipment I found the remote wasn't going to cut it anymore. So I went out and bought a URC-8811 to replace it with, in hopes that I would be able to simulate the MP3 remote with the 8811. Unfortunately, the 8811 would not learn any of the buttons from the X10 (when in PC mode) and the serial receiver that came with it wouldn't recognize any other IR codes. Frustrated, I got something called "IRman" which is also a serial infrared receiver but it claims it will recognize just about any remote. And sure enough, with my 8811 and the IRMan I have full control of every component in my rack including the PC. If you're interest is to control the PC with a remote control, I highly recommend this combination (IRman + URC-8811). Sure, they aren't free like that offer from X10, but you'll end up being a lot less frustrated in the end. =)
