have not had any luck finding discrete on and off code for hitachi
TV
still a little confused by all this . I did find a advance code but cant see how that can help.
Is a advance code just for programing the entire remote to that device?
And discrete code for seperate functions or buttons to that device?
Thanks for any help, still learning

No, an "advanced code" is another term for an EFC (extended function code). It is used to program an individual button within a given setup code on UEI (One For All, Radio Shack, etc.) remotes.rayh78 wrote:Is a advance code just for programing the entire remote to that device?
A discrete code in general refers to a function code that is recognized by the equipment and performs a non-toggling function, such as discrete on or off, or discrete input selection.rayh78 wrote:And discrete code for seperate functions or buttons to that device?
That all depends on what form the code you found is in. Without more specific information, there's not much more help we can give you.rayh78 wrote:I did find a advance code but cant see how that can help.
Are you using a JP1 remote? If so, what model? Do you have a JP1 cable? Have you found a setup code that works any of the functions of your TV? If so, what setup code is it? What were the advanced codes you found?

I'm pretty sure there are no discrete power commands for Sony DVD/VCR combos. Here is a thread on that subject.
