Are you using the extender? If not, it would open up most of the learning memory, which you are probably not using right now.

Yes, I do. Right now I have 353 bytes free in keymove zone, but only 196 in upgrade. I can upload the image to Yahoo, but I doubt you'd have any time to look at it, guessing from your omnipresence all over this forum.
After all, it is close to a thousand
registered users in dare need of your help. Is there any celebration planned for user no. 1000?

I'm not one of the extender experts, so I wouldn't look at it anyway, but there are several others here that might, so go ahead and load it.
And that 1,000 count is just the people who have signed up to the new forums over here, we've got about 15,000 members back in the Yahoo group!

My apologies for digging up this old topic. Only now I've got half an hour to test the suggestions above, and my results are (unfortunately) different.macboy wrote:I altered the upgrade protocol that Rob gave above to change the red highlighted value to 2 (2 repeats), from 5. This works flawlessly. The receiver responds to any momentary tap, every time.
Protocol upgrade #1 (for 2116) does not change device response. In fact, the box seems to be even more "reluctant" to respond. I've tried different values, including 2. Every button must be pressed exactly two times.
Protocol upgrade #2 works from the single short tap on the button! However, in some cases it skips the command while in others it produces two commands on a single tap. Also I've noticed that the box actually responds long before the "transmit" LED goes off.
So, is there any solution available to this problem? Because the issue surfaces way too often in these forums. Seems like the only reliable way as of now is to use Device Combiner with delay about 3. Eats a lot of memory.
I am trying to solve the problem that I think the author of this thread was having, but my problem is with the DishPlayer 7200 being controlled by the 6131. About 1/2 of the time when I press a button, nothing happens. I think the signal is not being sent long enough, because if I leave the button pressed for about 1 second, it works more reliably. Is there a solution for this for the DishPlayer 7200?
I tried adding the code talked about here, but the DP uses protocol 010f, not the 0002 talked about in this thread. Not sure what I should do.

Well, Rob solved this one for us. If you have a DishPlayer 7200, I recommend using this patched protocol. It will make button presses much more reliable. It solved my problems.
Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 0F (S3C8+)
43 8B 11 8B 14 B5 59 05 08 01 14 02 F6 01 14 05
1C 0B 93 01 14 0B A6 00 05 8D 01 46
End
Rob also sent me another one to try, but it did not seem to behave differently than the one above. Just in case someone wants to try it, there it is:
Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 0F (S3C8+)
43 8B 11 8B 12 B5 49 05 08 01 14 02 F6 01 14 05
1C 0B 93 01 14 0B A6 E6 0D 05 8D 01 46
End
The only downside is that if you press a button twice very quickly, it will come across as 1 press. I am guessing this is due to the fact that the repeat is longer. But this rarely occurs for me.

Just FYI, the "05" that you can see 4 bytes from the end of both protocols is the minimum number of repeats, so you could try tweeking this until you get just the right value. Try reducing it to "02" for starters.

I want protocol upgrade for Dish Network DP301
I am having the same problem as every one else. Need exactly 2 short presses or one long press for any key to work. I tried Device combiner but no luck.
I want protocol upgrade that will work for Dish Network DP301. I have OFA 8910. I aready have device upgrade that user dishplayer(old)/Dish Network protocol.
Thank you,

Is an updated protocol available for the OFA8910 that fixes this problem by increasing the repeats for the Dish Protocol? I have upgrades already for an extended 8910 remote and am having the same problems where only every other button press is recognized by either my 301 or 501 receivers.
I've seen various modified protocols posted, but not for the 8910.
Thanks,
Matt

Protocols like this are not model specific, they are platform specific. The URC-8910 is an S3C8+ remote, just like all of the other current JP1 remotes, so you can use the protocols mentioned here.

Thanks Rob. My OFA 8910 now works consistently every time with a single button press for either my 501 or 301 DishNetwork receivers.
FYI, I took your earlier post and made a slight tweak to decrease the delay/repeat (not sure which it is) from 05 to 03. 05 worked fine, but 03 runs a little faster and still works consistently (at least for my setup). The protocol I'm using is:
Upgrade protocol 0 = 00 02 (S3C8+)
2B 5C 51 8B 14 B6 59 05 06 00 C5 03 32 00 C5 05
73 0B F2 00 C5 0B F2 05 03 08 03 37 00 0C E6 22
02 E6 0E 43 E6 0F 8B F6 01 55 18 08 56 C1 03 87
21 04 29 04 8D 01 46
End
Thanks again Rob,
Matt

Too much of a newbie to understand...
After reviewing this string of posts, I spent some time trying to figure out if this could be the holy grail to my frustrations (remote only works now and then on my dishnetwork 510 reciever).
I am hoping that the fix works, and the reason I can't get it to, is my lack of understanding...
Any help is gladly appreciated.
My setup...
- I have a modified (to have the JP1 interface) 6131 remote running an extender.
- Because I have two satelite recievers (Dishnetwork 301 & 510), I barrowed a device upgrade off of the Yahoo site and modified it (in Keymap-Master) to work with my remote and changed the remote addresses so that I could control each reciever seperately.
I am hoping that somone smarter than me can help me with the upgrade, to enable the repeat sending for each button tap. (As mentioned in previous posts)
If it helps, this is the information I created in KM and then pasted into ir.exe:
*********************
Upgrade Code 0 = 07 D2 (Cable/2002) DishNetwork PVR 508 Upgrade (KM v8.33)
02 15 3E FE FE FE C1 80 00 80 00 00 68 78 08 2C
00 40 6C 5C 48 68 78 70 60 50 40 C8 C4 90 E4 DC
D8 3C 1C 0C 80 C4 C8 84 7C
KeyMoves
26 F3 07 D2 58«View (Live)» ¦3D F3 07 D2 04«Po
wer On» ¦3E F3 07 D2 9C«Power Off»
End
*********************
Thanks in advance,
Chris
