I have purchased a URC6440 to replace an extended 7562 that is now broken.
The remote is for an elderly relative with shaky hands. It is likely that incorrect buttons will be pressed occasionally. I am concerned that accidentally putting the remote into a shift state will cause confusion and since there are sufficient buttons on the remote for the required functions without the need to shift I am wondering if there is a way to disable the shift function when using the extender?
Any way to disable shift function on extended URC6440?

I don't think there is one. But if you don't put any functions on shifted buttons then pressing a button in a shifted state should just execute a non-shifted function anyway.
There's still a 3xShift + 5 digit EFC enter mode, but it's very specific and even your relative couldn't do that by accident.
