Is my CableVision Optimum remote JP1 Compatible?

Post by 120240VAC60HZ »

I got a new remote from Cablevision and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the remote?

It is made by UEI and has the six pin header (There is only a pin one marking and nothing that says JP1 or Etc)

The model is URC-2464B00 and when I used my FTDI cable and RMIR I get the "No Remotes Found!" Message

If it's UEI and has a 6-pin, then yes, but it's probably a new remote to us, which means we need to set stuff up for it. Have you tried doing a raw download from it instead of a regular download?

I just tried a raw download and I get the same message ("No Remotes Found!")

I know my cable works fine because I am able to download/upload from my RCA RCRP05B and the Charter remote

See if the remote responds to a 983 command (Remote Signature Blink Back). If it is a JP1.3, the signature will have 4 digits starting with a 3. If it is a JP1.4, the signature will have 5 digits starting with a 3. If it is a JP2, there'll be 5 digits starting with a 2. That could help us to see which programs to use to check the remote.

The 983 instructions are written for remotes with 4 digit signatures. Be sure to check up through 5.

The remotes 983 signature code is 34573

I just updated the wiki and included a note about how to identify the remote type. Do you have similar notes for JP1.2 or earlier?

JP1.2 remotes signatures have 4 digits and start with a 1. I don't know about older remotes, but my belief is that they do not support 983. The signatures we see in the E2 area are mostly alphanumeric, and wouldn't be suitable for numeric blink back anyway.

I guess the remote is not supported then?
Anyway I noticed Charter now has the same remote (Except with the Charter branding obviously :))

Not supported yet, but if we can figure out how to get a raw download, we can add support.

What in the world does that big button in the middle do? I don't think we can represent that sort of thing in an RDF ;-)

EDIT: Turns out that's the MENU button according to the manual:

Signature 34573 indicates a JP1.4 or perhaps a JP14.N remote. These use S3F80 micros, so we can reasonably expect that your cable will work. Do make sure that you're using the latest RMIR, because earlier versions didn't support JP1.4N.

No matter what I try it will not work

No matter what I try I keep getting the "No Remotes Found!" message I even tried a different cable (I also tried that cable with another remote so I know that it works)

I am using the newest version of RMIR (Version 2.03 Build 14)

I guess I was not using the latest version

Anyway I am still getting the dreaded "No Remotes Found!" message

Is there anyway for UEI to make a remote with the 6 pins but disable or lock them so the average remote person cannot use that "feature". Only an authorized (Ex: the cable Company) person can then program or reset them once they get the equipment (If they get them back  ) returned

Assuming you did try a raw download with 2.04, try the approach posted here.
