Hi

Someone has asked mt to create a Slingbox BIN file for a box that is not yet on the market. he knows it uses NEC1 and he has the OBCs for each button, but the only other information is "Customer Code 01fd". Anyone know if that relates to the device/sub-device ?

It didn't work and he has now changed his mind and says the code is 0x80BF.

What does that translate to ?

Alan, in case you want to know how we're translating those hex codes into decimal, we convert them to binary and then read them backwards. We know that NEC1 is an LSB protocol, so that's why we read the binary backwards. Had it been MSB we could have read the binary in the conventional fashion.

We're ignoring the fact that NEC1 is LSB-COMP because the COMP part refers to the UEI executor, so we don't need that to read a customer code.

There is a tool in IR.exe called "EFC Calculator" under the Tools menu that might be useful for this. If you enter "80" as the hex code, it gives a code of 1 in the LSB box, and if you enter "BF" it gives 253.

You can also do this in Excel if you like.
1. Enter "BF" in cell A1.
2. Enter =HEX2BIN(A1,8) in cell B1
3. Enter =BIN2DEC(MID(B1,8,1)&MID(B1,7,1)&MID(B1,6,1)&MID(B1,5,1)&MID(B1,4,1)&MID(B1,3,1)&MID(B1,2,1)&MID(B1,1,1)) in cell C1

And cell C1 will hold the result.
