1. Device: Ceton Echo
2. Type of device: Windows Media Center Extender
3. Year: 2012
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC-8910
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? Yes
10. Learning remote question? Sort Of
11. Have you tried the JP1 Lookup Tool? Yes
NOTE - I usually use the learning function to create my own codes. However, half the functions show up with an error ("This signal contains a section that IR doesn't know how to analyze"...IR v8.03) with everything highlighted in red. I can't find any help on this error either. |

I am using my URC-8910's learning function with the Ceton Echo (WMC Extender). However, half the functions show up with an error ("This signal contains a section that IR doesn't know how to analyze"...IR v8.03) with everything highlighted in red. I can't find any help on this error either.
Here is the Select Key:
Freq:35874 BiPhase:No
+974 -2594 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -884 +446 -884 +1030 -1192 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +750 -584 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -884 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +778 -998 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +778 -998 +446 -442 +446 -442 +778 -998 +446 -69366 +1308 -2244 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -884 +446 -884 +918 -1304 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +446 -442 +668 -666
Can anyone advise me on how to get through this? |

Learn as many signals as you can into memory, including the digit buttons. Make a note with each signal listing its function. Save this to an IR file and post it in the Diagnosis Area of the File Section. It is much easier to work on a protocol with lots of separate signals. Also, the digit buttons frequently have consecutive OBCs, and that makes deciphering a protocol easier. |

Xnappo has made an echo upgrade already but hasn't posted it yet. My understanding is it's identical to other MCE upgrades. |

Well, these learns have problems. But likely mdavej is correct--these signals seem to be ordinary MCE protocol, and a standard Windows Media Center upgrade will probably work.
One thing is different. Ordinary MCE looks like Code: | {36k,444,msb}<-1,1|1,-1>(6,-2,1:1,6:3,-2,2,OEM1:8,OEM2:8,T:1,D:7,F:8,^107m)+ | and many of the learned signals do follow this pattern for the first frame of a signal. However, the second and subsequent frames have a different lead in Code: | {36k,444,msb}<-1,1|1,-1>(2,-6,1:1,6:3,-2,2,OEM1:8,OEM2:8,T:1,D:7,F:8,^107m)+ | I don't know if this would matter, or if the difference is actually real.
I wonder if the learning remote has fresh batteries? The learns which don't decode have missing burst pairs, or grossly wrong durations. Also, Scan2.ir and Scan1.ir have identical E2 contents. Only the note section is different. Anyway, try an existing upgrade. If the upgrade doesn't work, we probably need better learns to find out what is different to the MCE protocol. |

mdavej is correct...I was able to use a MCE protocol to get it working. Thank you both. |

I keep meaning to upload an upgrade for this - but the WMC upgrades already uploaded work just fine - the only addition I made is the discrete off function.
