Cable PVR remote Question

I just got a cable PVR (Hard disk) box from Bright House Cable in Florida. It's a Scientific Atlantic Explorer 8000. It came with a remote with only their name on it but it has a 6 pin JP1 connector inside it.There is no other ID inside the battery compartment, but the back of the remote says "Designed with UE1 Technology". Anyone know if I can relate this to any other remote? Can I do JP1 programming with it????

Can you identify the remote with any of the pictures shown here?

Look closely at the 6-pin and see if it says "JP1" or "JP1.1", if it's the latter then you're out of luck because JP1 won't work with this remote, but otherwise I would suggest that you get yourself a JP1 cable and give it a go. Chance are IR will recognize the remote by another name, but if not, we'll help you get it figured out.

This is definetley the same as the Atlas DVR/PVR remote. The 6 pin connector is labeled JP1 not 1.1.

If it's the (5-device) Atlas DVR/PVR, then it is supported by the JP1 tools, and you're all set. No extender is available at this point, and it uses new-style keymoves (like the URC-6131), but eveything else works fine. IR does not understand the new keymove format, but KM can generate the keymoves for you. All in all, not a bad JP1 remote for the price you paid. 8)

(We still don't have enough information on the 4-device non-PVR Atlas.)

Thanks for the help. Now I have to figure out how to program it with the JP1 software. This site looks like it will make it easy.
