I am checking if the button is held, but the rest of the executor wasn't designed to be re-run, so I just did a bit of redesign, no infinite loop this time

Looks good through the widget, and .ict/.rtf signals pattern is similar to the sweeps of wheels I did from the Lego remote.
Will test sometime this week. Thanks again. _________________ Liz

Are the kids going to get a chance to play with the trains? |

Don't worry about them. The live far enough away that they get plenty of time with the machines of the day. It's me who has a problem fitting testing into their busy schedule. _________________ Liz

Rob, Success again.
The rides were smooth as silk and easy on the driver with your hold code in place. Really nice.
In case you want it for your PB, ir, rmir, km LEGO.zip package, this zip has functions where I found them fastest to use.

Great, thanks Liz. Btw, did u try experimenting with any of the other functions in the KM file to see what they do (if anything) ? _________________ Rob

No, I did not, though the thought crossed my mind. Few excuses:
1. You wrote early on that you coded just for a part of their many protocol variations, so I concentrated on what I think you did
2. Afraid to kill the motor or the receiver, as sometimes happens with TVs by sending random 0-255 signals to see what happens.
3. Even if I knew what else to test, I wouldn't know what to expect because I don't understand most of the descriptions in the pdf. For instance, at one point I thought the relevant stuff was their Single output mode, did you use that? If so, why didn't I see those 0-7 steps? This is beyond my skills.
4. If learns match what you coded, should we really expect those other things to work?
Maybe you can suggest what to test based on this description of Servomotor 88004 which was one of the motors I saw. I didn't even think of checking others, which might be 8882.

I have no idea what to expect as I didn't understand the PDF that well either. The only thing that I didn't include in the KM file were the combo codes, which are ones that make A do one thing and B do another, because there were just too many possible combinations. _________________ Rob

Rob, I just replaced KM file for several duplicate function names (RMIR warned). No impact on .ir, nor upload of .rmir files.

I have simplified the upgrade, leaving just the 6 working functions and have re-labeled them based on what they do, rather than the official PDF function names:

You had the following comment in the KM file and I'm not sure what the "after $81" bit means.
Quote: | new KM 12/22/15-changed button assignments, new 12/21 protocol
don’t forget to put ch into upgrade code - after $81
12/26/15 new protocol for HOLD for wheels, 12/30 renamed dup.Functions |

Oh, that "after $81" was an ancient note to me, I think before I got the drift how easy it was to change fixed byte in IR.
Short version might be ok for this remote (8879) and the receiver(8884) and motors(88004 and...) I talked to. Other motors might be different. I'd leave the long list alone since you've documented so well and, who knows, it might be useful for some other of Lego's many gadgets. _________________ Liz
