Device Upgrade Question

I am a newbie. I am learning, and have a question.
I have downloaded a device upgrade to my computer from the JP1 site. I do not understand how you know what button a function is assigned to. Let me give you an example. When I open up the upgrade in RM and click on the layout tab I see the function for hdmi1 in red text (red means it has been assigned to a button correct?), but how can I tell what button it will be on when I download the upgrade to my remote?

Red means not assigned. You assign on the Buttons tab or the Layout tab. On the latter, drag and drop the red function onto the button of your choice. But first, pick your remote model on the first tab so you get the right picture on the Layout tab. This is all explained in the How Easy Is It wiki.
