Serial Adapter question for Inteset INT-422

Post by drynyks »

Would the below Serial Adapter work for Inteset INT-422

Eleduino FTDI FT232RL USB to TTL Serial Adapter Module

I am just wanting to start getting in to all this and did some reading. I have seen references to DTR and RTS. This adapter has pins for both DTR and RTS looks like (seems like I read like RTS for JP1.4 and DTR for 1.2 1.3). So doesn't it look like the adapter does both? Any help and suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks

RTS is used for JP1.2, JP1.3, JP1.4, JP2, and JP3 interfaces. DTR was used in some early home built transistor interface designs. Our software (JP12Serial.dll) controls RTS for all situations, and may also manipulate DTR when polling the older interface types.

Plan on using RTS. Note that FTDI chips actually send not(RTS) rather than RTS, and that is what our software expects.

Thank you for the clarification. What do you think of that adapter? I went ahead and ordered it since they were low on stock. If it is wrong for what I need I can just cancel/return it.

Why would you buy a $16 adapter like that when you can get a working cable for $9?

I hate money.

So can anyone confirm that the above adapter should be ok?

Thanks in advance

Yes it works, only minor thing is, it doesn't have a standard 6-hole plug on the end, it has 6 individual plugs, which you can either glue together or replace with a regular plug.

This thread gives the pinout:
