Audioengine A5+ IR Codes

Post by Mona »

In case anyone else is looking to replace the tiny remote that comes with the Audioengine A5+ speakers...

NECx2 protocol
Device 0
Subdevice 253

OBC 1 = Power
OBC 3 = Mute
OBC 7 = Vol-
OBC 9 = Vol+

I added an .rmdu file here.

Thanks for your contribution. I wish everybody would submit there upgrades.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

it finally works!

Post by some1 »

thank you!
tried for a long time to make my cell phone be a remote, but the stupid program I used changed the codes being sent. once I removed this nice "feature" (Fix Buttons feature in IR Remote app by twinone) it started working.

on the way I also discovered web page https://irdb.globalcache.com/Home/Database which has codes also and was helpful with supplying the pulses instead of hex.

thanks again, learnt a lot from you.

Your question is too vague. There are lots of IR Apps, each has its own method.

If we make the assumption that you don't care about which app you use, get irplus. It can be programmed by exporting the IR signals from IrScrutinizer.

My original AudioEngine remote has died :-(

Can someone who understands this topic more than me tell me:

- if the codes are known (which they are) do they match any more widely used codes that I might find preprogrammed in a universal remote?

It doesn't look like AudioEngine sell their own remotes separately.

Thanks in advance,

They do not. You would need a JP1 remote or some other that could load pronto hex. In the US, JP1 remotes with cables start around $12.

EDIT: Actually, I found one European One for all (URC-7555) that could be made to work using built in code TV 1988 plus some manual programming. If you're not in Europe, some other JP1 remote withcable would still be cheaper and easier.

Thanks very much - really helpful.

I guess I need to go down the rabbit hole and understand JP1. Looks like fun :-)
