What are the current cable recommendations?

Post by The Robman »

Who's selling ready made cables and for people that want to make their own, are will still recommending the FTDI TTL 232R cables?

For example, will this cable on Amazon for under $9 work (with the addition of a 6-pin IDC connector) ?

One resource for this info is in the beginners forum.
The cable in your link should work, but of course we don't really know if it uses a genuine FTDI chip. It has been well-documented that the latest FTDI drivers won't work with counterfeit chips and in some cases the FTDI driver may change the USB PID or VID. See several posts here.
Stay away from Prolific chipsets; they don't work with JP2 and newer remotes.
