Jensen Q2749J TV with URC-8090B01

husbandofpottedplant wrote:By the way, my data that I posted had a number of TV key moves in it. They are all for the Jensen Q2749J TV. I had a hard time figuring them out so I though someone may have use for them as well. They do not seem to come standard with too many remotes.
If by this you mean that you are using a built in setup code for your TV, but have found a bunch of other useful EFCs, what you should do is create an upgrade for your TV, as that's the best way to share those EFCs with others.

I have created an upgrade based on TV/0180 with the EFCs from your keymoves substituted: Jensen-Q2749J-TV-0180.txt. Could you take a look at this KM file and maybe re-label the function names to match the actual button names on the Jensen remote, and maybe even add something in the notes column for each button to describe what it does (if it isn't obvious). I notice that you have assigned the "MENU" EFC to 3 of the 4 arror buttons, was that on purpose?

Here's a ready to go upgrade that you can use to replace all those TV keymoves...

Upgrade Code 0 = 24 9C (TV/1180)
5A 18 76 F6 F3 30 EF EF 37 B7 0F 77 F7 2F AF 17
5B CF E7 97 CF CF CF 4F A7 27 4F
End

Here is the Revised Q2749J-TV KM file with some changes to function names and descriptions. Let me know if I should have done this differently. I am still understanding it since I only started using the JP1 cable 2 days ago. It was the 0180 I was using to set up my keymoves so I basically had the same thing as your upgrade but using key moves. I did not find any more than you had. I saw what you mentioned about the repeated use of the menu EFC. I am not sure how that happened. When I first programmed it with the keymoves, I had the arrows working to use the set up functions on the TV. Transferring back and forth on the JP1 cable must have done something to them because they no longer work and had the menu EFC assigned. Something similar happened to my Sony STRDE925 receiver volume codes after using the JP1 cable. I reprogrammed them and all was OK.

What are the two numbers after the EFC on the EFC calculator in the IR program? For the advanced codes for 0158 UEI sent me a few years back, it has 588 and 336 listed as the volume up and volume down codes. When I download from my URC8090 into IR.exe, they show up as 076 and 080. If I manually enter them in the remote as 076 and 080 lets say as a keymove to use tuner volume in DVD mode, they will not work. If I enter them as 588 and 336, they work fine yet when I transfer everything to PC using IR.exe, they come in as 076 and 080 again. When you enter 076 in the IR calculator, one of the numbers after it is 588. With my limited understanding, I am definitely confused.

Funny thing, if I delete my key moves and install your upgrade using 1180 for the Jensen TV, my remote goes back to acting like I am using the generic 0180 device code with no changes. This makes power down = volume off and other non functional changes. Yet, when I check the key moves I have set up on my remote against the codes you are using in your upgrade, they are the same exact codes. How could the same code not work in an upgrade, but work in a key move?

My guess is that you forgot to assign the upgrade to the TV button. The new code is called TV/1180 whereas the built in one is called TV/0180

Btw, does your TV remote have arrow buttons? You only included the EFC for the right arrow in your list of keymoves, the others were all repeats of the MENU button. If you know the EFCs for the arrow buttons, could you post them please.

Btw, your link was bad, so I fixed it, PLEASE read the sticky thread about posting links to Yahoo files.

Sorry about the link. I think I've got it now. The remote does have arrows on it for the TV set up menu. As I mentioned, I lost the codes when transferring back the original set up I archived with the JP1 cable. Once I have a minute to sit down and figure them out again, I will post them ASAP. I checked to ensure I used 1180 and not 0180 and I did. Not sure what caused the problem.. It just seems that the remote is a little unpredictable with transfers.

If you are saving your IR images as you go, you should be able to go back to an old image and look up the EFCs. Plus you would have a better idea of where things start getting replaced (if that's really what's happening).

In order for me to try and guess what might have gone wrong with the TV upgrade, I would have to see your IR image.
