Advanced Codes

Post by Steven Kovacs »

I need help with an advanced code for a discrete power off for a Sony TV.
I have a Time Warner cable UEI remote. The advanced code for Sony TV discrete power off is 109. I have created this discrete code before using the formula...
press device key (I press TV)
hold setup button until 2 blinks
press 994
press setup but don't hold it
enter 3 digit advance code 109
press key you want discrete off command to reside on watch for 2 blinks

I can not get it to work. I did have it work in the past. Why will it not work now? What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.

Nearly any Time Warner remote will use 5 digit EFCs, so if 109 is the correct 3 digit EFC, use 00109. 00109 should give 2 blinks even if it isn't the correct EFC.
Note that EFCs depend on which setup code is in use. If you're using TV 0000, 1100, 1577, or 1599, then 00109 should send the Power Off command.

the 00109 gave me 2 blinks but the button does not send discrete off command. Any ideas? Thanks.

Next step is to give us some more info. Need the Sony TV setup code you're using and the model of your TV. As 3FG said, 109 only works with certain setup codes. Otherwise the corresponding Advanced code will be different for the same command.
