Splitting device combiner upgrade - howto needed

Post by mietde »

Here is one possible solution (mentioned in the comments for that file)
you can split this upgrade into 4.
The combination of protocol + sub-device which
is used in most buttons (I believe it's NEC1+109) will be your device upgrade.
Remaining buttons you can define as keymoves.
Can someone please explain a little bit better how to achieve this "splitting".

It's about the ONKYO TX-SR601 upgrade RCVR/1135.txt upgrade and i really wouldn't know how to achieve this.

Open the file in KM,
select proper remote,
change protocol Name to NEC1,
add sub device 109

After this i am totally lost :?

Should i really get 4 seperate device upgrades with the need to load them in IR seperate?
and what about the protocol, with the above few steps there isn't a protocol showing anymore.

I am lost, please explain a little bit further.
I can use RM or KM.

Yes. That method does involve using KM (or RM) four times to create four different new setup codes, and copying all four into IR.

No upgrade protocol is required because it can use the built-in NEC protocol.

1) Select the three combinations of protocol/device/subdevice which have the least functions which you will want on keys that can be in the body of the upgrade (keys that wouldn't be forced to be keymoves anyway).

2) For each of those three, select a setup code number and define the upgrade in KM. Don't assign any buttons. If you don't know the EFC numbers for the desired functions, use the function sheet to perform and record the translation from OBC to EFC (otherwise you can skip the functions sheet too).

3) Copy those upgrades to IR. Don't assign those setup codes to any device buttons.

4) Select a setup code for the main upgrade and give it the protocol/device/subdevice of that will have the most keys in the upgrade body.

5) Use the function and buttons sheets to define all the keys that use that protocol/device/subdevice.

6) I forget how external functions work in KM (I use RM). But I know there is a way to define and assign the remaining functions by setup code number and EFC number. KM will create KeyMoves for all of those.

7) Copy the upgrade (with associated KeyMoves) to IR and assign a device button to it.
