Thanks for your help. I have made good progress using your suggestions.
1. I put aside the added complexity of Mac/Parallels and used my Thinkpad with WinXP. RMIR connected to the remote without problems.
2. I successfully logged into the EZ-RC.com website which immediately upgraded the firmware in my Nevo C2.
3. I used EZ-RC to set up the devices and activities on the Nevo. No problems or errors there.
I will say that operating the remote, I don't quite understand the Activity function. For example, the [Watch TV] Activity seems to work, turning on the correct devices and switching the correct inputs. It then leaves the soft button screens in a state with [Assist] at the top with 4 other buttons below. I haven't yet figured out how to configure those soft buttons.

What to do about TOADs?
I just got a NEVO C2 and have got along pretty good with initial setup. The one thing that is driving me nuts is how to handle TOADs. I know there is no extender for these remotes. (Yet?) Is there any power state tracking native to these remotes? If not, has anyone found any way of handling TOADs?
Sorry, there is no way to do it. I just leave them out of my macros. Cable boxes are the usual culprits and save no power when off anyway, so I just leave them on. Others, like Samsung BD players, have workarounds like Play-Power for OFF and Play for ON.
Which devices exactly are you having issues with, maybe be there are some workarounds or discretes after all.

Just got a Nevo C2 myself as well.
On my devices, UEI's code base isn't nearly as good as either Logitech or the upgrades here. Too many missing functions. They don't even have any HDMI discretes for my Philips TV, which makes Activities involving them impossible.
I set the remote up initially using ez-rc.com (which annoyingly won't work right in Firefox) just to get an idea of the capabilities and configuration. It also updated the firmware.
One big issue I have with both ez-rc and RMIR (current build 1) is Favorite channels. My TV requires entering the decimal (ex. press 5 . 2 ) to tune ATSC subchannels. Pressing 0 0 5 2 doesn't work. You can set this up in ez-rc (tooltip says use - or .) but it doesn't work because UEI's upgrade for my TV model (code 2720) lacks a decimal function. I guess the solution would be to learn the decimal but I haven't tried this yet.
I can load my custom TV upgrade into RMIR but I can't see how to do the decimal in Favorites. After downloading the remote as set up by ez-rc the channel shows as "5:2". Attempting to edit it changes it to 0052. I can't enter a . or -.
And after I saved this to a .rmir file, it won't load again, I get "Error loading file."

Win 8.1 problem
When I first plugged in my Nevo C2 I hadn't done the Power Management fix. The symptoms were: EZ-RC could never connect, RMIR could read the signature, but never could successfully complete a read, RMIR would act as though it was writing but return the error "writeRemote returned 0:". I applied the fix and it started working just fine in both EZ-RC and RMIR.
It worked fine for a day. I shut the computer down overnight and now it does not work again. I have looked at the EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled registry entry and it still is zero. I also redid the registry edit, just in case. Nothing I try will make it work again. Any suggestions for making this Windows 8.1 "enhancement" go away?

Re: Win 8.1 problem
Are you using the cable that came with it? I tried a longer cable first and it had intermittent problems.pH7_jp1 wrote:It worked fine for a day. I shut the computer down overnight and now it does not work again.
Also try fresh batteries. Leaving the cable plugged in drains the batteries even if you aren't doing anything.

I have a simpleset (OARUSB04) remote so I don't know if this will apply here, but my dash/dot works in a very strange manner. Following any digit press, the dash needs 2 presses to generate an output. ie 25.2 needs 2 - 5 - dash - dash - 2MrMoody wrote:

This appears to be a hardware issue since it also occurs on non-TV devices with any function assigned to that button.
RE: long cable - mine would also not work with a long cable. Wiggling it might let it connect but the short (and tighter) one always works.
Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now.

Put in new batteries, no difference.
Thanks for the tip about draining the batteries by leaving it plugged to the USB. That never occurred to me and the set that was fresh on day 1 was down one bar on the battery indicator on day 2. I will always unplug from now on.
It's really frustrating that I was able to program the NEVO all day yesterday without a glitch and can't do anything today. I know I have only Windows 8.1 to blame.

Yep, already tried that, just forgot to mention it. After the reinstall, I checked the registry and reapplied the fix (although it was still zero). Still no joy. Next i'm going to move to my Win7 netbook. It's not where I want to work, but I want to get back to playing. In a few days I plan to reinstall the OS on my good machine, so maybe that will fix this problem as well. The next thing I would try is removing and reinstalling the driver.
