Why Isn't JP.1 Remotes More Popular ?

Why hasn't there been companies that sold these remotes as a kit with cable and preloaded key masters/softwares to compete with the overpriced Harmony type remotes ? I see a marketing opportunity !

Some remotes are supplied with a suitable cable and then RMIR is easy enough to get going http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16047
