Codes for a MAG 254 IPTV box?

Post by Steevo »

Do we know what the code is for a MAG 254 IPTV box, made in Ukraine?
So it can be used with a slingbox.

http://www.infomir.eu/eng/products/iptv-stb/mag255/

I figure if anyone knows that knowledge is here.

But a search for MAG 254 returned no hits in a forum search.

It's running linux and is supposedly open so it would likely be possible to find a file containing the IR codes. Assuming it's IR, that is. That is not established as of yet, but I will know soon.

Lirc

Post by Steevo »

I researched this a little further.
I found this linux box uses
lirc.org
for it's remote control.

And there is an android and IOS app that does remote functions.
http://wiki.infomir.eu/doku.php/en:stb_ ... te_control

I don't have one yet so I cannot look at it, find a directory named lirc and see if there is a configuration file in there.

Wow. Dead silence on this one. That's unusual for you guys here, every time I ever asked a remote codes question, the response was immediate.

Probably a lot of confusion on our end. You code search is neither in the code search forum nor the Slingbox forum. If this is a code search, please use the template and answer all the questions.

I personally can't find any codes for this thing anywhere.

That's possible, but I am not a JP1 user, so I don't know.
When I find a need for knowledge in an area I have little expertise I go where the smart guys are.

When I get one in hand I will look some more.

Would someone here know what a lirc file corresponds to that a slingbox might have already? Assuming there is a lirc directory on the thing. And it's browsable.

You're not a JP1 user?

Since you are, it's going to be much easier for you to make your own upgrade from a few learns than it will be for us to find and convert an lirc file.

I never got the JP1 to work, for unknown reasons. I decided it was unnecessary.

It may be necessary now. The MAG does not exist in the JP1 file section, the Harmony database or at Remote Central. So if you can't find that Lirc file, we're out of options.

I have one on order, so as soon as I see it I will see about the lirc file.

Steevo,
The reason you aren't getting any responses on this, is that this belongs in the slingbox forum.

Our resident slingbox expert is usually pretty busy in the slingbox sandbox, and doesn't need to look for things to do in other forums.

I'm moving this post there, so that Alan will see it.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Unfortunately he is on vacation in Las Vegas without his 'remote-buidling' kit :D :D

And as it isn't in the Logitech Harmony database I am afraid there is nothing I can do unless the user has access to a Harmony remote or is prepared to post me the remote. (Back from vacation)
