NEC 4-device Combo Tutorial?

Post by paula0015 »

I got a shiny new Yamaha RX-V675 amp a month or so ago. Alas, IRDecode says some important keys are NEC-y1.
I have searched around here without finding much more than some very brief explanations about how to configure KM to make an upgrade for my URC-10820 (B00).
I am not sure what I put where on KM's Setup page. The green instructions for entering says something like "Optional" followed by "space" and y1,y2,y3..

(Nuts -- I am having a hard time explaining what I am confused about)

Is there a tutorial somewhere? Failing that -- an example or two for KM Setup?

Thank you.

Paula,
I can't help you with KM, nor do I understand why you would want to use it. However, if you use RemoteMaster, and select the NEC 4DEV Yamaha Combo executor, you'll be able to enter any Yamaha signal.

Also, Chico Woodhill generated a spreadsheet with nearly all possible Yamaha signals, so it probably isn't necessary to learn them.

paula0015, Take a look at this KM file for RX657 by Rob
https://hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php ... le_id=4690
or mine for RX567 which I based on what Rob did and annotated a little bit
https://hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php ... le_id=9583
Both files can move to RM/RMIR with no trouble.
Look at the functions sheet in KM, it should give you an idea what to put where.
And don't forget to tell KM or RM to change the remote.

Thanks, ElizabethD, and 3FG. I found the RM files and have a basic program working in my remote.

I started way-back-when with KM and open it out of habit, forgetting that RM is much easier to use.
