When I first started using JP1.x remotes I didn’t know why you would want
to map the same function to two different buttons on the same device.
However I now map select/OK/enter to both the OK button and the button
to the right of zero for devices the require digit entry. I map ./- to the
button to the left of zero for devices that require sub channels.
This allows me to enter channels and sub channels with my thumb _________________ Jim Anderson |

Same reason you have buttons on your TV and have a remote and why most computer programs have more than one way of achieving the same result - useability in different situations.
I have the star (*) and ON DEMAND buttons on my OCAP remotes both mapped to Exit/Cancel or equivalent. That way my thumb can hover around the transport buttons and the "TICKER" and "ZOOM" buttons (mapped to archive and timer functions for my PVR) and reach the ON DEMAND button to cancel. Then when I move my thumb over to grip the side of the remote my index finger can reach the INFO, GUIDE buttons and use the star (*) button to cancel things. I think the more physical buttons your remote has then the more likely you are to do this. Yet another example of the greatness of JP1-ing. |
