The new version of RMIR works great with my Xsight Colour.
Thanks again!

I have added a new entry in the Options menu of RM (not RMIR) for "Separate Save folder" that I hope meets your needs. When selected, an Open operation opens in the last folder used to load a .rmdu file and a Save As operation in the last one used to save a .rmdu file. When deleselected, both operations open in the last folder used for either of them. The setting and folders are preserved between instances of RM and the Save As folder is preserved when this option is deselected, so when re-selected, Save As returns to the last folder used before deselection. This option also affects the default Load and Save folders in the RMIR Device Editor, though the option can only be changed within RM.xnappo wrote:It would be nice if there was both a 'last load' and 'last save' directory. ... The quirk is indeed responsible for the file corruption. The Delete button is greyed out if the function is assigned to a button of the remote, to prevent you from deleting a function that is in use. You need to use the Buttons or Layout tabs to delete the assignment before you can delete the function. Clean Up, on the other hand, deletes all functions that do nothing, as the hex data is empty. Usually an empty function is not assigned to a button, so this causes no trouble. By deleting the data from an assigned function, you got Clean Up to delete it but it left the assignment to a (now) non-existent function, causing the file corruption.CyberSimian wrote:This afternoon I have been performing a code hunt to find a code to select a specific input on my Sony "Scala 2" audio system; this code is missing from 1058. Now I did eventually find this code, but in the process I have created a file that no longer reloads into RMIR (an error is diagnosed).
I did notice one quirk. In "Device Upgrade Editor" on the "Functions" tab, I added several lines in order to try several codes that I thought might work (one did). I then wanted to delete the non-working lines, but the "Delete" button was greyed out. So I then blanked all of the fields on the unwanted lines, and clicked the "Clean Up" button. The unwanted lines duly disappeared. But, on switching to another tab, and then switching back to "Functions", the blank lines re-appeared, so they had not really been deleted.
I missed this one when I was trawling through posts looking for things needing doing for Alpha 26. I see the point about the recent file lists and will do that for the next version, but I don't understand your request about the open dialog filters. When I open the Open dialog in either RM or RMIR, the default file filter is already All Supported Files, which includes .ir for RMIR and .txt for RM, so what is it you want that is not already there?mdavej wrote:I'd like to see .txt and .ir files saved in the recent list as well and included in the filter in the open dialog, if it's not too much trouble. Many upgrades on the site are still txt format from the KM days.
Thanks Graham. I have downloaded Alpha 26 and will recreate the definitions from scratch.mathdon wrote:I have modified this behaviour in Alpha 26 so that Clean Up deletes any assignments before it deletes the functions, so all should now be well. If you didn't manage to sort your setup out and would like a repaired version of the setup you posted, let me know as I can do that.
Thanks for that. You're right that the other part is already there. False alarm.mathdon wrote:I missed this one when I was trawling through posts looking for things needing doing for Alpha 26. Dave, I was about to do this when I discovered something that puzzled me. If you open a .rmdu file from RMIR, it naturally opens it in an instance of RM, but it adds the file to the Recent Files list of RMIR, not RM. What I had thought you wanted was for me to add .ir files to the Recent Files list of RMIR, and .txt files to that of RM. Am I wrong, do you want them both in the list for RMIR?mdavej wrote:I'd like to see .txt and .ir files saved in the recent list
OK, done. Here is RMIR v2.03 Alpha 26a. I have made the additions, and have also removed .rmdu from the types that can be added to Recent Files in RMIR. Of course, .rmdu files can still be opened in RMIR and will open a new instance of RM, but they will no longer show in the Recent Files list.mdavej wrote:What you propose is fine, IR to RMIR's list and txt to RM's. I see no reason for RMDU files to be in RMIR 's list either.
Fantasic! Now take a well deserved break and enjoy your holiday.mathdon wrote:OK, done. Here is RMIR v2.03 Alpha 26a. Thanks. Will try with the file. I have no idea how to use that file, but definitely will read up and try it.mdavej wrote:Unfortunately, cheaper TVs often lack discrete power and input codes. But you can find them if they exist. Load the 4 device upgrades in the zip file below and press every key starting with GUIDE through ENTER and every command on the LCD. There are 256 commands in all which cover every possible command a device could have. You'll run across all the commands on the original remote plus any unknown discrete codes. We call this a brute force search. If you find any good candidates, we can add them to your current Element TV device.
There is always a small risk of running into some service code that puts your TV in a weird state. So be aware that you may have to reset the TV if this happens. The risk is very low, however.
If it turns out no discretes exist, then I would recommend you add TV power and input to the Assist section so any unwanted power or input switching can be corrected. Or put the TV power and input commands on the LCD for every activity for easy access. Or leave them out of the activity macro altogether and always use the commands as needed manually. That's the best you can do when no discretes exist.
