Best way to get Slingbox 500 to turn off Yamaha Receiver

Post by tonydt1g3r »

So the problem I have is I have my current comcast cisco cable box hooked up to my slingbox via component cables, but the HDMI is hooked up to my receiver. If the receiver is on then there is no signal for the component output to slingbox. So if I happen to be out of the house and forget to turn off the receiver I cant use the slingbox. What is the best way to be able to turn off the receiver?

I was thinking of possible using the HDMI input and setting that to a yamaha remote since I do not use that input on the slingbox, but I tried all the yamaha remotes on the website and it did not work.

My current receiver is the yamaha rx-v773

The RX-773, like many modern Yamaha receivers, will shut off Power with NEC1 device 126, OBC 127. I doubt you will find this in any Slingbox file, but for universal UEI remotes, Audio 1815 and 2061 have this mapped to the Power button. Building a Slingbox bin file with device 126, OBC 127 should shut off Power.

BTW, on newer Yamaha receivers, Power toggle is 126 OBC 42. Built in Slingbox files likely will transmit OBC 30 or 31.

As the OP didn't bother replying to us for 3 weeks I guess he has either fixed it or lost interest.
