1. Device: Pioneer VSX-822
2. Type of device: Receiver
3. Year: 2013
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: Xfinity (dark grey with red button)
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? No
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes, but couldn't find codes for manual entry
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? No
9. Partially working setup code? aux/30014
10. Learning remote question? Where can I find the code to assign input-Sat/Cbl function using 9-9-4 command?

My first post - I hope I'm in the right forum for this question. I have a Xfinity remote and I would like to assign one of the buttons in aux mode to switch the input on my pioneer reciever to sat/cbl. My remote is controlling the volume and power using the aux/30014 setup code. It seems like I need the extended function code (efc) that is entered manually into the remove using the 9-9-4 ... commands?

Can some provide the code or direct me to where it is available?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what comcast that is, but does it have
Audio 31023
listed for Pioneer?

If so, does that operate the unit any better?

If so
set the unit to 30123
and set the device to Aux Mode,
Does the input work?

before assigning these to any key test
set the device to Aux Mode
tap setup followed by any of these 5 digit codes make sure the unit is pointed at the device when you press the final digit

setup - 07045 InputBd
setup - 56197 InputCd
setup - 49797 InputCD-R
setup - 16261 InputDvd
setup - 48773 InputDvr/Bdr
setup - 38789 InputNext
setup - 65925 InputPortable
setup - 39301 InputPrev
setup - 21893 InputTuner
setup - 52101 InputTv
setup - 35205 InputVideo

Let me know if any of this is working

Thanks, vickyg2003. I used audio 31023 which worked, but key assignments didn't work. However, I found the follow codes that work with setup code 31023:

InputAdapter 07138
InputBd 07106
InputCd 56307
InputDvd 16224
InputDvr/Bdr 48720
InputTuner 21795
InputTv 52209
InputVideo 35241

I couldn't find a code for InputSat/Cbl, so as a work-around plugged in my cable box into the video input then assigned InputVideo to a key. Is there a way to figure out the InputSat/Cbl code?

According to the latest codes found HERE (first file on that page), they are as follows:

Function EFC DEV OBC OBC2

Input BD 07106 165 92 192
Input DVD 16224 165 133
Input SAT/CBL 35529 165 16
Input DVR/BDR 48720 165 137
Input VIDEO 35241 165 22
Input GAME 07010 165 92 197
Input HDMI 1 06546 165 94 202
Input HDMI 2 06418 165 94 203
Input HDMI 3 06642 165 94 204
Input HDMI 4 06514 165 94 205
Input HDMI 5 06434 165 94 199
Input HDMI 6 06610 165 94 200
Input HDMI 7 06482 165 94 201
Input HDMI 8 06578 165 94 206
NETWORK (Toggle) 06978 165 92 193
INTERNET RADIO 07122 165 92 200
PANDORA 06930 165 92 203
MEDIA SERVER 07090 165 92 206
FAVORITES 06962 165 92 207
Input iPod/USB 65810 165 158 203
Input USB-DAC 65874 165 158 201
Input TV 52209 165 12
Input CD 56307 165 76
Input TUNER 21795 165 71
Input PHONO 55155 165 77
Input MULTI CH IN 06561 165 94 6
Input ADAPTER PORT 07138 165 92 196
Input HDMI 39298 165 86 194
INPUT SELECT 38763 165 85
INPUT SELECT REVERSE 39234 165 86 193

To do this yourself, just convert each byte in the remote control code on the spreadsheet from hex to dec. For example function BD has a code of A55C+A5C0. A5=165, 5C=92, A5=165, C0=192, resulting in Dev 165, OBC 92, OBC2 192. The next command DVD has a code of A585. A5=165 and 85=133, resulting in Dev 165, OBC 133 and no OBC2.

The one code I could not figure how to enter into RM is a function called MHL. It appears to be Dev OBC 165 19 plus Dev OBC 175 40. This is the pronto hex for that command, if anybody wants to take a crack at it:

0000 0068 0044 0000 0168 00B4 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 03DD 0168 00B4 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0016 0016 0043 0016 0043 0016 03DD

Thanks, mdavej. I've got my remote doing everything I want it to do.

I understand the hex to dec conversion, but I can't figure out how are coming up with the efc. I found the obc to efc tables, but the ones I found are for 3 digit efc's. What am I missing?

Sorry, when you answered you checked the file section, I assumed you meant you actually opened the files in Remote Master. It calculates the EFCs for you. So download and install Remote Master and the associated RDFs, Maps and Images. Then use it to open an upgrade file like THIS, which matches the protocol, device and subdevice you found in the lookup tool for setup code 31023 and already has most of the EFCs you found before. On the Setup tab, pick your remote model from the drop down. And on the Functions tab enter the Device, OBC and OBC2 for each function. The EFCs are calculated for you. If you buy an $8 JP1.3 cable, you can simply load all those codes into your remote without manually programming anything.

A really nice thing to do would be to create a new upgrade file starting with the one above, add your new codes and post it. That way, anyone else with your model receiver won't have to hunt for codes like you did. Oh, and please double check my work, as I could have some typos and mistakes. I don't have a Pioneer receiver myself to check.

Thanks, mdavej, this was very helpful in setting up my 15-2104 to work with a VSX-43.

When I learned codes from the remote to my 2104, many decoded as pairs with different device, OBC combinations. The Pioneer spreadsheet shows almost all of them are one device two OBC combos.

I was going down the road of the Mix protocol and maybe that is an alternative for the MHL. I don't have that in my mix so I didn't pursue it.
