Hoping this is the right forum, as I haven't been able to find the proper one yet. I've got a Gefen piece that doesn't have the proper discrete codes on the remote that I need for Control4 output. I asked them for the codes and what I got was a spreadsheet that looks like this:
Key Pattern #1
Button # Command (HEX) IR functions Description
1 0x00 MUTE TOGGLE Toggles Mute ON/OFF
2 0x01 POWER TOGGLE Toggle POWER ON/OFF
3 0x02 MODE Scrolls through the different modes (PLII, DIRECT, STEREO, MONO, MCH)
4 0x03 VOL + / UP Volume increment (-60 to +12) / Move up when using Menu system
5 0x06 MENU Enters menu mode
6 0x04 LEFT This button will navigate left when using the Menu System
7 0x05 ENTER / SELECT This button will confirm options and changes made in the Menu System.
8 0x07 RIGHT This button will navigate right when using the Menu System
9 0x08 EXIT Exits menu mode or goes back one step
10 0x09 VOL - / DN Volume decrement (-60 to +12) / Move down when using Menu system
11 0x32 ENHANCE Scrolls through the different enhanced modes including "OFF"
12 0x33 L/R LINE IN select analog L/R input
13 0x34 HDMI 1 2 3 4 scrolls through HDMI 1 to 4
14 0x35 INFO/TEST NOISE Toggle This button will display a series of information messages on the LCD screen. When adjusting the Speaker Level, this button will activate a sequential noise test (3 secs per speaker) that is useful for adjusting each speaker volume.
15 0x36 Coax select coax input
16 0x37 Optical Select Optical input
17 0x38 POWER OFF This is a discrete power off button.
18 0x39 POWER ON This is a discrete power on button.
19 0x3A MUTE OFF Last volume level before muting
20 0x3B MUTE ON Volume level set to minimum
21 0x3C TREB + Treble increment (-12 to +12)
22 0x3D TREB - Treble decrement (-12 to +12)
23 0x3E BASS + Bass increment (-12 to +12)
24 0x3F BASS - Bass decrement (-12 to +12)
25 0x0A DRC ON Dynamic range control OFF
26 0x0B DRC OFF Dynamic range control ON
27 0x0C PL II Pro-Logic II Surround mode
28 0x0D DIRECT Direct input - no processing
29 0x0E STEREO Downmix to Stereo L/R
30 0x0F MCH Multi-channel surround mode
31 0x10 MONO Downmix to Mono (center channel only)
32 0x11 ENHA OFF Audio Enhance effect OFF
33 0x12 ENHA NIGHT+ Reduced dynamic range for more stable volume
34 0x13 ENHA VOICE+ Enhances dialogue for clearer sounding vocals
35 0x14 ENHA VOLUME+ Equalizes volume level between commercials and TV programs
36 0x15 HDMI1 select HDMI 1 input
37 0x16 HDMI2 select HDMI 2 input
38 0x17 HDMI3 select HDMI 3 input
39 0x18 HDMI4 select HDMI 4 input
Can anybody help, or at least get me moving in the right direction? Thanks |

Was there anything above this in the file?
What kind of output are you looking for?
What is the model of the Genfen Piece? _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Fofer,
I did an exhaustive search and can't find any more information on this unit.
I searched the Harmony database and couldn't find the upgrade.
We have two gefen switches in the upgrades in the file section
Both use RC5 11, but these were just a simple 4x1 and 4x2 switches with 4 buttons, and none of them line up with yours. But if it were a RC5 11 then this would be the mute toggle
0x00 MUTE TOGGLE Toggles Mute ON/OFF
0000 0073 0000 000B 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0CC8
0000 0073 0000 000B 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0CC8
--------------------------------
We have seen a lot of 4x1 swithes that use nec1 0.0
If yours was a Nec1 0.0 this would the mute toggle.
0x00 MUTE TOGGLE Toggles Mute ON/OFF
0000 006C 0022 0002 015B 00AD 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0751 015B 0057 0016 0E6C
-----------------------------------
The bottom line is we need more information than just the function code. We need the protocol or whatever that goes with this. Your file appears to be missing 2 lines of data. _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

If I can get a code learned from the remote, could there be enough data gleaned from that to extrapolate the remaining codes? |

Yes if you get us the pronto hex for 1, we can generate the rest from the codes you provided.
The power toggle would probably be the easiest. |

Thanks! I'll do that once the client is back in town. |

You might want to get the client to learn all keys. We occasionally see protocols that our tools don't know about. If the protocol isn't one that we know about it would need to be analyzed to see what rules it is following.
If we know the rules, creating pronto hex for the buttons that were not on the physical remote can be done.
The spreadsheet gives the OBC's, it just doesn't give the rules. |

These are also RC5 device 11. Add 64 (0x40) to the command numbers given in the spreadsheet, to get a proper function number (OBC).
HDMI1 is 0x15 in the spreadsheet. Convert this 21 decimal, add 64 and get 85. Use e.g. IrScrutinizer to generate the needed Pronto Hex
0000 0073 0000 0009 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0040 0040 0040 0020 0CA8
If you want to see how to figure this out for yourself, use the Scrutinize SIngal tab to decode the learns from the client. |

Following 3FG's advice I created an RDMU for the file
and here
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=12312
I believe these should be your HDMI codes
HDMI Toggle
Device Code: 11 Function: 116
0000 0073 0000 000A 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0CC8
HDMI1
Device Code: 11 Function: 85
0000 0073 0000 0009 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0040 0040 0040 0020 0CA8
