NECx2 protocol. Two different devices

Post by Volodymyr »

Hi,

I faced the problem with NECx2 protocol. Remote has two different devices: 242.64 and 7.7. I tried to use Combo protocols (NEC 2Dev Combo and NEC1 2Dev Combo) and NECx2 protocol using both devices but they don't work with the box. Can you please help solve this problem?

An ICT file is here: https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=12231

Thanks,
Vladimir

Welcome back, long time no see.

You probably can't use the standard NEC combos because the lead in timing is wrong.

Nec2 looks like this
IRP notation: {38.4k,564}<1,-1|1,-3>(16,-8,D:8,S:8,F:8,~F:8,1,^108m)+

NecX2 has a different lead in time
IRP notation: {38.4k,564}<1,-1|1,-3>(8,-8,D:8,S:8,F:8,~F8,1,^108m)+

You can modify the combo protocol with the new lead in time, or you can use two NECx2 devices, your main one that has most of the functions, and a "helper" upgrade to use with keymoves.

I can kibitz you through the process, or I can help you out when I haven't had so much wine.

Your call.

Vicky

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Hi Vicky,

Thank you for your reply and explanations. I tried to modify the combo protocol, but I didn't manage to create proper protocol. Unfortunately I am not familiar with protocol modifying. Can you please help me with this?

Thanks,
Vladimir

Volodymyr, which processor do you need this coded for?
and NECx2 protocol using both devices but they don't work with the box. Can you please help solve this problem?
I didn't read that part closely. Since there are so many <unknown> and <Gaps> at the beginning of the signals, combined with the fact a NECx2 doesn't work either would seem to indicate that the strange part needs to be there.
So could you give me another ICT with just One of the 242.26 signals. Maybe Menu.

Was this post always in the Slingbox forum? I thought it was somewhere else.
That is why I was asking for the processor.

I thought there was going to be something wierd with the signal, but the learn is just showing a plain old Nec2x. As far as I can tell, there is no need to modify the protocol.

Thank you for your help!
The bin file works with the box now, but only for one device - 242.26
Buttons with 7.7 device are still don't work.
Here is Channel UP button captured:

If you look at the RDMU I posted, you before, you can see the error. On the channel Up and channel Down functions, I had them set for the wrong device, subdevice combo. I have modified the upgrade

I want to move the upgrade from the Diagnosis area to its proper category.

So what kind of equipment is this Sundirect HD?

Yes, I saw that. But not only Channel Up/Down buttons don't work. Other 7.7 buttons like Numeric Keypad (1,2...9) are also don't work.

Sundirect HD is Satellite Samsung digital receiver DSB5090R.

I know relatively little about the slingbox and should have stayed out of this, as this is really alan's territory.

I got all excited when I thought there was protocol work to be done and jumped in over my head.

I'm thinking that the channel numbers have some settings in the slingbox themselves, governing how long the button is held but I'm not sure.

I think the combination of the CH buttons being miscoded and the channel entry settings in the slingbox might be giving the illusion that 7x7 are not working.

Hi both

Been watching this with interest from the sidelines :D

However, as you seem to have hit a wall, I thought I would take look at it. As usual I loaded the device on my Harmony and looked at the codes and I am afraid I could find no trace of a 7.7 device. For me the CH+/- and Numeric buttons still use 242.26 with different OBC codes to the ones in your RMDU file.

So I think you have made your life unnecessarily complicated. I have posted my suggested RMDU file at https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=12264 Be interested to know if it works.

Cheers

Hi Alan,

I am sorry for late reply. Had some problems communicating SlingBox.
Thank you. Your file works. Can you please explain how did you get OBC codes with 242.26 for buttons with 7.7 device code? And what is Harmony?

Thanks,
Vladimir

The Logitech Harmony is a universal Remote. Control that can be configured to 'mimic' any device. So I simply installed your device on it and used IRScope to find the codes. ALL the buttons showed 242.26, there was no sign of any 7.7 ones.
