Well, if you have the OEM remote, and a JP1 cable, just learn the signals from the OEM remote, and construct an upgrade from the learns. If you want help in making the upgrade, post the RMIR file that contains all of the learns, and we'll help make the upgrade. You might need to save more than one RMIR file, if the 8910 doesn't have enough memory to store all of the learns.

The UEI code for OP's tv is 11864, of course it isn't in the 8910. We waited 3 years for that darn code to show up in new Directv remote.

I'm surprised that jp1guy checked the file section and didn't find either of these upgrade Emerson LCD TV codes acceptable

Emerson LC195EM9B
Emerson LC320EM8A_81

I had thought maybe he didn't have a cable and was looking for a wav.

Yes I would like some assistance in making the file. I messed with this JP1 stuff a long time ago and forgot most of this stuff.

Yes I do have a cable for the 8910 but it was home made and isn't keyed. I'm a little hesitant to plug it in at the moment.
Going to have to re-learn some stuff here.

I was able to learn the on/off code from my oem remote, but it would be nice to have the complete setup on the 8910.

Will I be able to load the 11864 file directly in my 8910 ? Or doesn't it have enough memory.

To tell you the truth I DID search for the file but you know at this point I wouldn't know what is what with this stuff.

Thanks for all the kind help to a FIRST poster.

11864 isn't a file; it's a setup code that a few of the latest model JP1 remotes have. You can't use this setup code directly because the 8910 doesn't have this setup code.

So you'll need to load an upgrade, and Vicky has given links to two candidates. If neither of those works, then learning will probably be necessary.

The first thing to do is to establish communication with the remote, and download from it. Assuming that you haven't previously loaded upgrades or learned in signal, etc, then the remote will have plenty of memory. Start by installing RMIR2.02a. (Actually, first make sure that your present computer has the correct ports to hook up to your cable.) See How Easy Is It in the Wiki to guide you through installing an upgrade.

Can my remote even handle this 5 digit 11864 setup code ?
Is there a .wav upgrade file for my remote that has this setup code ?

Well you can certainly make one

Load the upgrade into an IR image for the 8910 and then create a wave for the UPGRADE area only.

Load the WAV

and then assign the device to a button

Do realize that the WAV will delete all other upgrades.
