Need bin file for Cisco Z386HK for i-cable TV

Post by grandetech »

Please help, I need the bin file for Hong Kong i-cable TV STB, model is Cisco Z386HK.

the Singbox 500 detected Cisco Z386 but no respond on controlling the STB, wonder if there is a bin file for Z386HK (as printed on the STB), can anyone provide that?

Or if I can build the bin file myself with a Pronto learn remote to capture the hex codes? Any tutorial link as I am totally new to .bin file creation.

Sorry for not replying yet, we have to test it in coming next week during my re-visit the install site, will keep you posted. I wish this is a new file rather than the one posted few years ago which was failed when I tested earlier.

You don't need to be at the install site, you can install Custom Remotes from a remote site.

And this is a new file I spent quite some time building, so I NEED you to give me some proper feedback otherwise I am wasting my time.

I don't quite get it, the Slingbox 500 is with me now, the i-cable STB is in another place which I will visit next week, I am planning to load your file at the site with slingbox setting "custom" page. I am wondering if you do this new file based on new codes that you aware the old one has changed?

I will definitely get back to you for the results.

OK, I assumed you already had them wired up and had already tried setting them up using the normal method before you asked for a Custom Remote.

I know nothing about the old one you are talking about. I installed the Z386KH box onto my Harmony Universal Remote and used that to 'mimic' the original remote. And analysed those IR transmissions.

The old one is from Jaysbb listed by searching Cisco Z368.

Actually we just realised the i-cable STB model is actually "Z98DVB", I googled somewhere saying it uses same code as Z368HKDVB, in case you have a different set of files, please kindly let me download again, we will go to the site tomorrow. Thanks very much.

Yes I agree. The Z98DVB box uses identical codes to the Z368KHDVB, so the Test Remote I posted for you will work with that box as well.

Please let me knwo the result.
