There is a discussion going on across at the Slingbox forum about having a long (4 secs) keypress to send a 4-secs iR burst,
I told them it was impossible, but someone else has questioned that. Was I wrong ? Is there a way to do it ?

Some devices take a long key press in some situations. This is particularly true for powering on equipment.
In JP1 speak, that translates to having a set number of repeats to simulate the power being held down for 4 seconds. Exactly like setting the repeats to 1 shortens the key press.
Sometimes we have written special protocols for people so that the number of repeats can be tweaked on a key by key basis.
Hope that helps

Yep, repeating probably kicks in, and then you'll get all the complaints about the arrows jumping all over the place.alanrichey wrote:Interesting, hadn't thought of that. I guess the problem with just changing the global repeat will be that all the buttons will be the same and that is a recipe for chaos
This is something we've handled here before. Typically someone will need this for macros in our remotes.
